HAHAHAHAHA! At last, someone who's not afraid to write something about imaginary "violence." (Have you noticed, too, that since we've become so averse to saying anything dicey, the world has become exponentially more violent? At what point will there be an admission of, "okay; this isn't working. Let's go back to pretending that a scene is rough and then laughing at it.")

Anyway, I love the rhyme of this delightful poem as well as the VISUAL that leaps to my mind as I see a tiger and then a ginger cat, its stripes lying next to him on the jungle floor. Truly hilarious - and it would totally appeal to any child I know...and I'm a teacher, so I know thousands of 'em. Don't stop doing what you're doing. Maybe eventually, you'll be instrumental in helping the world get back to normal!

Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you. This is the only this I have ever written for children. I just write what comes into my head.

Well, any child would love this silliness. And I have a child's sense of humor, so I love it, too. Encore! Encore!!

The voting is still open, have you used yours?

    Yes.

I am not going to ask if it was for me. I have come 2nd and 3rd. never 1st.

Oops - you left out the word "yet."

Besides, these contests have you up against people with family blocks of voters and also vote-fishers who call upon their lemming masses to cast their ballots for them. If you try to use talent alone, you'll never triumph. Still, whether you win this or not, it doesn't change the fact that this entry is fantastic. xo

Really are they that fixed. I was careful to ask had you voted with suggesting you voted for me. I just rely on people liking my stuff. I am not known.

But, ps, it WAS for you, and now you're in a tie for first! I was planning on heading to the polls right after I answered all my reviews/replies, so you were NOT vote-fishing, btw. You had my vote from the first time I read this. xo

Yes, they are that fixed. Watch the numbers come in sometimes. There's one member who almost always starts off with five because she has kin who always vote as a clump. She's the only one from the clump who ever posts anything, but the others are members to insure she wins. Tom, when I complained to him about it, told me it's perfectly okay for daughters to vote for their mother. So there you have it. Sanctioned by the brass. Fortunately, there are other things about this site that ARE positive.

I don't think I have a chance of winning this one. Other I thought I had it and then late votes came in for others. Including a competition involving local place names. I used Lincolnshire someone beat me using names from the whole of Australia. I think Australia is classed as a continent. lol

Ciao , it is funny and creative.

I wonder though why it was a female and not a male tiger.

I say this because at least 80% ginger/orange cats are male.

I did not know that. I think it is because when I was growing up I believe all cats to be female and all dogs to be male. I still think of cats as being feminine. I own two cats and they are both female, the cat that most affected my life was female. This ginger cat is not a ginger cat either just a tiger who lost her stripes. Hopes this explains this to you. There is a reason for everything, just we might not know it at the time.

I knew there was no dark meaning behind your poem ..
I thought it was awesome but seeing I knew 80% orange cats are males , it was more logic it was a male

By the way .. cats with three colours are always female.😝

You know a lot about cats thanks for sharing,

I just realised. Her rhymes with tiger. He doesn't. 😃

And I just saw your poem is in the children?s rhyming contest ! 😅

    All the best. 🍀

PS: I read your notes below I love tennis and ping pong my father was a great teacher. 🥎🏓

It started as a baseball bat but then I thought cricket was funnier. Finally I thought saying Tennis Bat would be the funniest. What a racket.

Ciao! you have three votes now!

I do not doubt that your poem would make kids laugh. I enjoyed the humour

Also regarding cartoon violence .. compared to the violence in cartoons this is not worth mentioning.

In Disney cartoons, the villains get run over, and blown up, electrocuted

    Best of luck!

Many thanks, I tried to make it as silly as possible. Hence the Tennis bat, rather than cricket.

This is an excellent poem for the contest with very good rhymes and meter, much different in theme from the usual children's verse.
Tigers may be hypnotizing to watch, but they are among nature's fiercest hunters. I prefer the big ginger cat.
Well done.
Good luck in the contest.

This quatrain, A Tiger, has the proper formatting and reminds me of the old cartoons, you know, the funny ones, where the "bad guy" gets the stripes beat off of him.
