You are my pal, but parts do not flow. Try this:

You lay your right hand out

You put your left hand out

You keep them both together

And smile instead of pout

God thinks you're okey-dokey

We're praying there's no doubt

That's what it's all about.

You bow your head in

You let your prayer out

You can whisper soft and gently

There's no need to shout

God thinks you're okey-dokey

And, he's the one with clout

That's what it's all about.

Your voice you raise

And with them your praise

You offer them together

God will hear you always

And he'll think you're okey-dokey

As your words are Heaven bound

That's what it's all about!

If you want to conform to the song and have the rhythmic flow you need adjustments like those.
Use them or not. Karen :-)

Please forgive the delay. Sorry. I got to this too late, but your words are very important to me. I'll try to get to them in a more timely manner in the future.

Very precious. My first real prayer was for a puppy. My parents got me a coal black puppy which I named Bricket. It never occurred to me my parents had gotten the puppy for me because they heard me praying. But I figured God worked in their hearts make them want to get one for me so it is all the same thing.....

Please forgive the delay. I wanted a dog, but my brother had a phobia, so I never got one growing up.

This is an excellent poem for the contest on children's poems
incorporating an old time song Hokey Pokey.
The rhyme are good and the lyrics singable.
Good luck in the contest.

Very cute! Just enough rhyming to keep to the rules, without overdoing. There are a few words I would change, but as far as it goes, you did a good job. Keep working at it. Trish Green.

Thank you. I write pretty fast, and should have done a bit better, but I wanted to go on to other things.
