This is a great chapter. There was just enough tech-speak for me to know I didn't have a clue, but not enough to make the story boring. I'm glad Alan is happily married and Tommy has a dad. Things are working out well.

Thanks very much, Lorraine. No more tech speak; I promise.

Now the three of them can be a real family, although they've been functioning as one for a while now. It's still nice when it's official.

That's good that Abby and Ginnie have warned Alan to be careful about his invention with Warren. I hope the "spy" camera does show what Warren's real intent is. Perhaps the reason he was let go from his previous job wasn't what he said it was. So glad that Alan is listening to the people who care about him!

Yes, when women as smart as Ginnie and Abby tell you something, it's best to listen! Good thought about his previous job.

The tech talk worked well to show that the Nerds were just that, super smart tech people that talk about things way over most of our heads. It also alerted Alan to what Warren is really like, a creep that knows who to butter up. We've all met people like him at some time I think. Well done Jim.
cheers,
valda

Now that that's been established, I promise no more of that tech talk.

A lot of people seem to be onto Warren now, but he just hasn't done anything to get himself fired yet. He'd better watch his step, though.

I don't know... all the computerese got the best of me, and I scrolled through more rapidly, not having a modicum of understanding.
I also think Warren needs to go. Three votes agin him might have Alan give serious thought.

Glad you scrolled through it; it wasn't really meant to be understood but just to show they are super smart. I don't even know if what I said made any sense!

Alan just can't bring himself to do it unless Warren commits some firing offense. But at least he'll try to protect himself.

Hi Jim,
I understand the reasoning behind the technology talk, and it sounds to me like you know what you're talking about, but it pretty much went over my head. The general feeling is that Warren needs to be watched was shared by everyone. Nonetheless, I'm glad that Alan isn't jumping on the bandwagon without a good reason. I think that's what has happened in this country politically. Too many people hear the same message coming from the same group of influencers and join the crowd just so they don't stand out. As the man in the group, I think Alan has an extra responsibility to set the standard and hold himself up as a man of integrity. Thanks for sharing Jim.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

That's a really good point, Tom. Until he has a good reason to fire the guy, he'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He, himself, has been blamed for something he didn't do, so he's not too eager to blame Warren for anything preemptively. Even so, he'll take precautions just in case.

A bit heavy in tech-speak, as you yourself recognise. However, it does underline that this is a purely scientific relationship between Alan and Abby, and I can see how important this might become. All well so far. I wonder what the camcorder will reveal.

I feel like a little bit of tech-speak here is similar to what police procedurals or spy thrillers do when they use a lot of jargon, or gun nuts like Stephen Hunter does when he describes firearms in his novels. It wasn't really meant to be understood completely by the layman, though it is factually accurate. I feel it lends an air of authenticity to the story, and, like you said, it helps clarify Alan and Abby's relationship.

This is a very nice chapter, and having Alan adopt Tommy just goes a bit further to show how much of a sweet good-hearted man he is. He even gives Warren the benefit of the doubt, before coming to a conclusion.

Thanks, Lance. Only one more "nice" chapter before we get down to business again.

Like golf, I didn't understand a lot of this, but I did understand that Alan needs to watch out for Warren. At least Warren isn't sucking up to Callie or Tommy. It's fun seeing Abby in this story as she is a very interesting character.

In truth, I don't understand that much about it either, but just enough to hopefully make it somewhat authentic to read. Yes, I think we can safely conclude he's not a child molester. Just what he is will become clear after another chapter.

That's right, you were among the few who had read Some Call It Luck, so you are familiar with Abby's character. Her circumstances with the miniature tools and the experience she had at college along with the time frame of it just seemed to work out to have her in the story. I hadn't planned that originally when I conceived of this story.

I am glad you didn't write an over-the- top flowery romantic wedding. I am glad also that people are becoming wary of Warren, but I can feel myself reading each chapter anxiously, waiting for the inevitable drama!a fine write here. I don't get all the details re the glasses, but have enough understanding to see that the idea is a brilliant one.

Yeah, there are some that may have enjoyed a flowery wedding, but I didn't feel it would have added anything relevant to the story, so I just kept it simple. You can relax for one more chapter before it starts getting dicey.

Hi Jim, it was a bit on the technical side, but I suppose it was needed in the context. It was a very well written chapter. Now I'm looking forward to how everything will be progressing. Ulla:)))

Thanks for making it through that, Ulla. I promise--no more, but I wanted this invention to sound somewhat realistic in its development, and I thought two nerds talking about it would lend an air of credibility to it.
