Well done for another verse in the contest and also for all the amazing work you and your colleagues do in this law enforcement area!
Your verse is, as ever, powerful and resonant in its reinforcement of our need to stand up against this heinous crime. Your style, repetition and easy flow of rhyming couplets make this a very readable and memorable post! Well done and good luck! Debbie

This is good, as so many times I say no and feel guilty for saying so. I've had another mad at me, but in the long run, I knew it wasn't something I should be doing, or could make the time for. It was freeing for myself. thank you.

This is a very interesting piece.

This was a new word for me and I love to Learn:
juvenescence

This was awesome!:
When I learn to say no, I find I say yes to myself.

Great work!

A poignant and powerful message in your poem. No one should be abused and we all should be able to and have the right to say no. Thank you for sharing.

Blessings

First, thank you for your service. It's taken my daughter a decade to even begin to heal. People don't understand how truly life-altering it can be. Our situation was a bit different. A man broke into our home via her bedroom window. She woke up and, because of her diligence in working with the police, he's in prison. She makes sure she comments on ever parole hearing he has. He was a repeat offender who'd managed to elude capture and was escilating. People like you make it better for all victims, no matter the event that led to the situation.
And the poem - YES. I've been a person who doesn't say no often enough. But, finally, I'm learning that 'no' isn't a bad word. Not with family or friends, not in good situations or bad. You said it well!
Blessings to you, yours and your work.
Deb

Excellent poem of such importance! It is gratifying to see a male expressing these thoughts. Of course, I know there are many good men out there-- but it lends gravitas when so many women are afraid to step up and speak out for fear of being shamed!

"When I learn to say no, I find I say yes to myself.
We should learn to say no when it's best for our health."

Perfect ending to your poem, sir.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's experience. You are a very compassionate human, and the world needs more like you.

I liked reading your poem. I am a survivor of sexual abuse. I like the entire idea of saying no to people who abuse you and others. Very well written. Great job

It is never good to hear about someone's abuse, but I am always inspired by their healing. My sister was assaulted in a date rape while serving in the military. She secretly still is fascinated in viewing such things online despite being such a focused person. This is why I am involved and will stay so. Thank you for sharing.

I was raped as a virgin my first year in college as I pleased no stop. If was in an office for dorm government I was president and he was vice president. It deeply hurt me as I carried it through life. Now I'm 57 and I can feel better but I still cry for my loss. Thank you for writing this.

Best wishes

Alex

I think it's what a godly man may having morale fibre, the ability and the will to say no. The flatterer seems to be telling us that we are are way better than we actually, one has to be honest with himself and before God, then wisdom floods in, empty the vessel, that it maybe filled. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

This poem, When to Say No, seems to find the person finding life past the soul sucking influences from the dark past. People sometimes see love in the actions of perverse adults.
