YES, YES, YES - it ain't over till it is over, as the saying goes. I love that you chose this theme for your 100 word flash. You filled it with lots of emotions, but the best one is the feeling of hope.

This is beautiful, a very complete story in only one hundred words. The reader knows she has lost her love, knows she believes she can never love again, and then there is someone who loves the same place she loves, someone who smiles and entertains her, even if it is just sitting silently.

thank you so much for the review and your kindness. I know so many would love to find this exact moment...not a crazy wild love like when we were young, just someone to share a quiet moment with.

Well, it takes all sorts. I am new to flash fiction and did not expect something as gentle as this. This feels very feminine a gentle touch so to speak. I enjoyed the read, it is good to learn new writing styles or types or writing perhaps.

this was meant to be soft and promising a new start for someone who lost her partner and now lives with only memories.

Dreams seem to keep our minds occupied until hope swoops in and gives a us reason to believe again, or should I have said, "Being Again. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I doubt I will ever Begin Again in the love department...I miss the connection, the laughter, the touch, but most guys at my age are set in their ways and want to be taken care of....which I don't mind, if they give as much as they take.

Does anyone ever give as much as they take? At least in their own mind. 😂

I know for a fact I give and give to my family and never get anything back in return except flack!!! Love it!

I rather enjoyed this one hundred word flash fiction story. I love the part about wondering if she had written the final chapter of her life. You told this story well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I doubt there will ever be a new chapter in my life but it's nice to dream about it and pretend so to speak. Thanks for reading and the kind review.

Oh I'm sure there can be, Carol. It's never too late, is it? Well this wee story just answered my question. All the best of luck, my friend. It's a great entry. Ulla xcx

Thanks, Ulla. I believe that Mike is with me in spirit all the time, but that can't help me from needing the touch, the laughter, the companionship of someone. I pray it's out there somewhere.

You've already entered next year's hundred word contest. Now that's confidence in "tomorrow"! This is a sweet message of hope rekindled by new love. Best wishes in the contest!

LOL I didn't even pay attention to when it was due. I just looked for a flash. Oh well, maybe the early bird will get the worm. Thanks so much for the review and your kindness;

I hope it will be a new beginning for her, indeed for them both, to ease the pain and loneliness. Very nicely written with just a touch of ambiguity as to whether the man is real or not. A lovely, positive and hopeful story. An excellent entry, so, best wishes.

Thanks so much Wendy...When I started to write, my mindset was on Mike revisiting, but in the end I decided to leave hope for others when they drew their own conclusions. Thanks for the kind review. Have a great day!

I wondered, at first, if this was the spirit of her husband comforting her...
It is imperative that we never lock up our heart.
God may have placed a shiny new key in another's hand.
A hopeful and romantic flash!

Initially, I was thinking of it being his spirit, because I feel Mike is always with me, but in the end it took another turn. I appreciate the review as always.

Smile--I know you've mentioned feeling Mike's spirit with you before...
Still, the thought of a new beginning was delightful.
-
I'm not against finding someone to share my life with...even as a friend, but I doubt it would be fair to go further because my heart clings to him so deeply.
-
I think your feelings are valid. If an opportunity presents itself, follow your heart!

I like the hopefulness of this story -- a new tomorrow of love and happiness. I know you love sitting by the water, so is this biographical? It's good to find happiness a second time around. Blessings. Carol

Hello, Carol... Hope things are better with you and the hubby! Thanks for taking the time to stop and read my flash. I do so love sitting by the water, and initially I was going to have it be her husband's spirit, but in the end it took another turn. It not biographical, just an old lady rambling. LOL

Well, this old lady enjoyed reading it! LOL.
