Bob, thanks. You have given me one of my favorite reviews. I wanted to nominate you but ran out. The regrets of yesterday and the fears of tomorrow keep us from enjoying today...your poem eloquently reminded me. Thanks for sharing. Esther

Now, that's a wise Mum! I'm glad you keep her words in mind and how perfect for Mother's Day weekend! Enjoyed your sharing her wise words.

I thought at first that your were writing a ballad style in iambic meter so I would have suggested:
The greatest truth I know 'bout time:
The best is yet to come.
We cannot change our yesterday
To think you can's plain dumb.

But the following stanzas were not metered so it's clear you weren't using the ballad form.

Thank you for reviewing my poem. I may well adapt my poem to include your changes. When I do, I will mention your contribution to the poem's improvement. Thank you for such a positive comment.

Thank you for considering it. But again, you didn't mean to write ballad so it's not necessary. It seemed to start out as one. Blessings on your weekend - "The best is yet to come!"

Excellent entry for the finding your muse club's time poem challenge. The presentation is basic but nice. You incorporated the rules with your poem. Well done!

Bob, that is darling. I hope you mind that adjective for it. It's sweet and, at least in this country, used to be true. Now, looking at our future scares me to death. Living each day, trying to find some life-saving humor in it, or goodness, well, that comes from friends and family - not those in charge.
Your poem and the precious picture bring back the days when our future was rosy, or there was a promise of it. Now, looking back to happier days is getting more prevalent. At least, for me.
But thanks for sharing this with us! There is always hope.

I think you've mistaking the meaning for darling. For me that word describes a review delivered by a darling reviewer. And that Darling is you, Katherine. Thank you so much for such a darling review.

Mark, It is such a delight to receive such a positive review, particularly when the reviewer reads exactly the message you attempted to deliver. Thank you, again.

Thank you for such a nice reply. You're sure right, we can all improve, I keep telling my wife that. I've not actually said it loud enough for her to hear mind you.

Cute complementary picture art choice. I hope I and my dearest will be holding each other that way when we're that old.
"Smiles will ride your face again." Very nice personification here.
"An smile, the best is yet to come" Either An' or And.
Very good, useful lesson there, learned from mom. Hope for a better tomorrow should always spring eternal.

I hope I can still catch her when we're that old. Even better, I hope I can remember why I'm still chasing her. Thanks for such a good review

Mum knows best alright! And this moving and yet upbeat verse, complemented by that wonderful image, conveys the truth of this phrase so well. We shouldn't live our life in blinkers, looking back and dwelling on things that can't be changed. Even if the best is not to come, the reminder of this heart-warming advice will make a difference to the way we face the future, i.e. with confidence and hope. Thank you so much, Bob, for sharing this delightful verse which would put a spring in anyone's step! Take care and have a great weekend! Debbie

What a lovely reply. Thank you Debbie. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, we're coming up for fifty years married and it only took Jeanette 47 years to adapt to my insanity.

This is a very well written poem with good structure and naturally flowing rhyme. Best of all is the sentiment - 'The best is yet to come' - a positive, uplifting lookout on life (and usually very true.) Thank you.

Shirley, your comment is very much appreciated. I believe having a positive attitude makes life a whole lot easier to live. Negativity sends us backwards, I believe.
