Well, I've never heard of anything getting canceled until the last couple of weeks. Is this something new. Someone else mentioned getting their feelings hurt over having thier work canceled for a contest.

Disqualified, and no you don't get your money back. Do you think I could get the job? I am heartless (although at night I worry I might not be). Shame, this wasn't an entry to the contest it would have got my vote.

Deep breaths, slow the adrenaline rush. It is going to be alright. Vindication sometimes late on arrival, it will come if it is due. If it does not come then maybe instead we receive the lesson, that life goes on, sometimes with celebration, sometime with devastation.

It is aggravating. I saw one of your entries wasn't on the list of entries. Can't remember if it was one of the political entries. I'd read it and didn't see why it didn't comply. I complained about an entry that was entered as a script but didn't even resemble a script. The Committee passed it, anyway, and it won. Let them know how you feel. I thought you were given an opportunity to revise if it didn't fit the rules. I hope you feel better after writing this, and I can tell you you'll have many synpathizers. judi

Having poetry as an outlet for peeves & frustrations can certainly be a relief. I've definitely done that more than once. Good acrostic poem, very expressive. One misspelling, otherwise excellent. Better luck to you!

Canceled? What was canceled? Was it a member-initiated contest? I wonder if it got canceled because there weren't enough entries? If so, shouldn't the entrants get their $$ back? Sorry that you're running into this!

The competition goes on without me. One was disqualified because the key wasn't lost but discarded. The other had a need for the lost hat to be lost in the beginning. Total trash reasons.

Yep. A worthy piece. I've concluded the 'Committee' is a group of wildly varying individuals. A roll of the dice determines which member monitors which contest.
There are two types (and only two, I think):
1.) Those ComMems who strain at gnats ensuring every detail is met *exactly* -- and then MORE exactly -- more even than the contest creator imagined
2.) Those ComMems blindly stamping "GOOD" on every entry as they read their paper, enjoy their coffee, and pet the pooch.
It's a lovely system and sometimes, it works. --wink--
