This genuinely brought tears to my eyes- from mother to mother her strength and clarity shows to be a generational trait . This piece reminded me that having a human being's love be so strong they become super heroes almost.. it is the a blessing to be celebrated and cherished.. Happy mother's day to you as well. I wanted to try to find the words to honor mother's also I really wanted to express how important mom's are and how significant that loss is for those of us lucky enough to have a mother. I appreciate your review it lets me know that I hit my goals.

An excellent entry for the A Poem About a Woman contest and a very nice first posting. Welcome to Fanstory. This was beautifully written and got to me especially hard since a year ago tomorrow I lost my own mother and am still trying to work out how to handle life without her here. Thanks for sharing. good luck in the contest.

I appreciate your kind words and rating. I found myself speechless when I lost her. It's been just over a year for me now. The pain still overwhelms me. Day by day is the only way I know to get through it.

The contest was for a poem and this is in the format of prose. I don't think it is the end of the world though. You should be able to edit it and ensure it saves poetry. Then, I where you I would put each sentence onto a new line and call it free verse. It would be a shame to get disqualified on your first post.

Welcome to FanStory, Jessa, and congratulations on your first post. This was a very sweet tribute to your beloved mother who meant so much to you. It's quite obvious she was always there for you and taught you well, and perhaps those lessons will help you raise your children the same way.
It takes a while to learn all the tricks of posting. Make sure the Preview checkbox is checked to enable you to preview your postings before going live with them. Once set, you won't have to do that each time; it remembers that.
The best way to paste something you've written in Word into the Advanced editor, which gives you many options for a beautiful presentation, is to paste it in using ctrl+shift+v. This will preserve the single spacing your document probably used. If you only use ctrl+v, it will come across as double-spaced. What happens with the first method of pasting is that you lose any formatting you had done in Word (such as bold, italics, and even blank lines between paragraphs) so once you've pasted into the Advanced editor, you will need to restore your formatting. Don't forget to put in blank lines between paragraphs.
The Advanced editor enables you to choose from a variety of fonts and many different font sizes from 8 to 72. Highlight what you want to change, then choose your settings.
You can also set different background colors for your piece. That takes a bit of experimentation with the color wheel at the bottom, but you'll figure it out eventually. There is an undo button if you screw anything up.
You'll find FanStory to be a terrific website with wonderful people who can be very helpful with their reviews. - Jim

Thank you so much for your review. I'm finding a lot of help and advice already and I've only just started. I think I was blessed to have stumbled upon this group and I can already tell that it's going to improve upon skills that I do have and challenge me as a writer. That being said this seems like a wonderful group of people and again I'm glad to be here thank you.
