Great story. And very well written, too!
I remember playing 'I got'cher nose', poking my thumb up between my fingers after tweaking one of my kids' nose. I had to show him in a mirror to convince him otherwise.
Best wishes.

My father use to do that to all the grandchildren too. One day, when he was digging a well, every time he went to throw out a shovel of dirt, he looked up at three little boys' faces. He told them he was digging to China and the men would come out of this hole and get them if they didn't stay away. Crazy! Thanks for the review.

Excellent story from a child's viewpoint. Your words are so true, a child might see the heart this way, very literal. Excellent writing that tells a tale in few words.

An excellent entry for the 50 Word Flash Fiction writing prompt. This was a heart-warming flash story with a cute, surprising ending. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

Good morning, Marilyn. Thank you for the kind review. The "Ants" won the battle for first place, but the little girl won my heart and I hope the reader's too. Have a great day!

I love the juxtaposition of the two perceptions. You have used strong metaphors. All of this coming together makes it a little humorous but also poignant.

We never know what children are thinking, and many times it isn't what we might expect. But with everything said, I'm glad to know that grandma is alive and doing fine. :-) Thanks for sharing.

This was hilarious, I can just see a little kid taking the words literally, My grandmothers name was Jenny and my sister named he daughter after her. Great 50 word story

Adults don't perceive how literal children can sometimes be. A lovely story showing much love between the generations. Best wishes for your entry.

This is a cute story of the misunderstandings of childhood. It's funny how common expressions are totally lost on young children. I think you did well at conveying a whole story in so few words.

This is so cute.. It is an excellent short story for fifty word Flare. It wouldn't surprise me at at for a child to think might be the case. KIds can actually believe the most unbelievable things.

My mother-in-law, my kids Grandma always had the Werthers Original's candies ready to go. Problem was the kids didn't care for them.

Your story was cute and I can certainly visualize it happening.

Best of luck in the contest.

Sorry I'm out of 6 stars...

Cheers,
John

My mother always had peppermin t candies. He just wrote a song the other day (usually he does movies not songs) but something made him think about his grandmother. He wrote that things weren't the same, even if the peppermints were under the Christmas tree because his grandma wasn't there. I cried and cried. Thank you so much for enjoying this one. have a great day!
