Congrats on your win. This is amazing! I love the ending. It reminds me of tge Grinch's heart starting to grow. I love the rise and fall of emotions as Albraith blurts out the truth and later Albert was contemplative hopeful.

The imagery and detail in this story are brilliant. The reader is left in no doubt about the era, the convention, and the complexity of human relationships and 'the done thing' as far as inheritance goes in this period. Did Eleanor turn the tears on for effect? The last line speaks volumes, leaving the reader wanting more. Thoroughly enjoyable.
