This is a very well written Flash Fiction story you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive words and very nice imagery from the art work and your words. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

WOW! I really enjoy twists at the ends of stories. Enjoying life, enjoying a day, enjoying everything and doing it even more so because you never know when it could be your last day. As a two times cancer survivor, I wish you the best if this story is true.

Biggest of congratulations for beating the cancer TWICE, Stephen! Mine is a pure piece of fiction, fortunately. Thank you kindly for your review.

What a tragic story, and yet full of wisdom and truth, there is really only one way to believe when one is facing one's own demise in the face. This is beautifully written my friend, blessings and good luck, Roy

The scene you set sounds like heaven on earth. Or you have been visiting with Jimmy Buffett. Your last line makes for a very different picture. I will pray for a cure for you, or maybe you will find Margaritaville in heaven.

This is very good Bruce,
It is tight (and exactly 150-words) but there's an instant and sustained atmosphere that forms a great counter-point to the 'reveal'.
Unsophisticated and direct, an easy read, but surely not an easy write.
The contests are a lottery at times, I wish you well with yours but as I say, this is very good regardless of how it turns out.
cheers

phill

I thought this was a great portrait in time until I got to that last part. You did a great job setting the scene then pulling off that surprise ending. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Sometimes in life, sadly, it takes the worst thing possible to make us realize that all the other annoyances and inconveniences are just a normal part of living. Thanks for sharing.

"I was even grateful for the seagulls . . ."

What a wonderful write this is, and so, so true. Having a disease in your body that can kill you makes you appreciate every thing in life.

This is a subject that has been written many times, but you do it in such a skillful way that it seems brand new. You show us a man who is perfectly happy with his life, then you tell us it's ending.

Love the last sentence.

I always look forward to reading your work, Bruce. But I repeat myself . . .

Thank you so much for the review and six stars, Pam. I aimed to be careful knowing how overused the cancer card is.
