Hi Debi,
This is a well done poem using repetition to bring a point across. The rainbow should mean beauty, hope for a better world, and maybe remind us the all the different colors of skin should be seen as beautiful too.

Forget the kids - I want my rainbow back! I was in Barnes and Noble last month checking out new books. Wearing my brand new Skechers covered in rainbows. They were cute and on sale. I think I sent the wrong message, as a couple of people kept smiling and giving me the thumbs up! I finally got it when I saw the sign. I had wandered into the LGBTQ section. As a baby boomer, I'm still not used to the rainbow being a symbol of alternative lifestyles! So, I get your sentiments here. I'm not judging either, but I do wish they had chosen something else! Lol

I truly did not want to step on toes, but I do have a big problem with someone taking something so wonderful from our God and giving it an unchristian stigma. Thank you for seeing my point and I love your statement, forget the kids, I want my rainbow back. Hahaha! You are so much fun.
Yes, baby boomers have such a different way of looking at it if we were raised with morals and ethics. And I can tell you are about the same as me.

This is the best thing I've read so far on fanstory , it says exactly what it should , why take something so beautiful , a natural phenomenon that belongs to us all equally, something that encapsulates the miracle of light, and turn it into a logo that symbolises a preference. The purity and innocence of a simple rainbow is now lost. Our children are no longer allowed to see it in its purist form, which is simply a light in the face of a passing storm. They now know it Not as spectrum of beautiful light and colour but as a spectrum in which you can identify. This is so fabulously written , very much to the point in a gentle, supportive, non judgmental , logical yet unapologetic way. Xx Absolutely Amazing ð??? ð?¤©

Give the kids their rainbow back---what a metaphorical way of expressing the concern that our children are too soon into adult world. I remember my childhood we are very innocent and could get pleasure from small things WE didnt have any toys ,we used to make balls with coconut fronds leaves, make fans, climb trees , play hopscotch and skipping rope and read fairy tales sighing happily when we read the last line,'and theylived happily ever after'...life was very simple those days.

When I think about the children's future, it scares me since theirs doesn't seem to have much promise unless we show more ethics and morals in how we as adults live our lives. Many of my religious/Christian friends claim that the LGBTQ+ community has misappropriated the rainbow for themselves. I say all creatures, great and small, God made them all.

Just a few days ago I heard some teachers in the war zones in Ukraine have set up classes in garages beneath apartment buildings and that children are drawing skies full of bombs and destruction.
I dread to think what the children of Gaza would draw. Bombs falling, dead bodies, limbs scattered, death everywhere.
All children have the right to live happily, and to grow up with a smile on their face.
Eat three meals daily, have clean drinking water, and a bed to sleep in.
In Gaza:
14,000 children were killed,
1.000 children have lost one or both legs,
19,000 orphans
and thousands with only one parent.

Hi Tempeste. It is always so good to hear from you. However, you shed new light on how a rainbow could clear up a child's vision and it is such a horrible thing what war does to them. It is so sad. And yes, all of the children of war my heart goes out to them. Your number of the horrible statistics is enough to make me ill. But then it should make us ill. We should never forget them.
I wish I could send them a rainbow today. Thanks so much for shedding light on this. Also for the six stars and the kind comments, my dear friend.

Sorry for the late reply.
Our leaders are hypocrites.
They talked so much about saving our planet from fossil fuels that create air pollution that harms our health and generates toxic emissions but they continue to wage war instead of using diplomacy to resolve their differences.
The air, soil, and water in Ukraine are polluted due to warfare, and their grain is contaminated with arsenic and
Mercury.
Last year Hungry refused to put Ukrainian grain on its market, but most countries close an eye.
When it comes to our leaders they are not eco/green at all.
