What a series of painful memories but you have such a good balance of remembering the good and the bad and putting in all into a healthy perspective. Your recollection of the bathrooms and indoor plumbing makes us thankful for what we have today!

Thank you Helen. Some things were painful at the time but they don't bring back painful memories. They are just interesting bit and pieces of my life and made me who I am and I find a lot thing that once got to me worthy of a smile in retrospect. Thanks for the review.

I swear I am not sure how some of us made it through those early school days. Your stories are sometimes happy and bring fond nostalgia but the rest make me so angry for the treatment you were subjected to both at school and at home. i hope it helps you to write about it and leave it in the past.

Thank you Marilyn. Some of it was painful and the time but the memories aren't painful for me. I'm just glad I can still remember after all this time. They are things that might happen in anyone's life which have made me who I am.

That's quite alright, Beth. Sometimes the negative stories are the best ones and are needed to balance things out. Some difficult and embarrassing situations you described here very realistically. This was very well written and gave us a great picture of how different times were between then and now.

Thank you Jim. I'm pleased you consider this worthy of six stars. I like to tell both the good an bad and I usually find some of the bad thing funny after all these years.

I still amazed at your amazing perception at a very young, and watching my grandchildren God has planted that same perception in them, I'm so glad that God intercepted my life when He did, thank you for this Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. I appreciate the review and comment. At the time, I may not have exprssed my preception of life. We see our memories through more mature eyes as time passes, but I thinks kids know more than we give them credit for.

I agree.

How wonderful that you learned to play the piano Beth, did you have one in your house when you were growing up? The problem with Mums being in the school with their children is that they find out everything that is going on and it can be embarrassing for some kids. A fun story, love Dolly x x x

Thank you Dolly. We did have a piano which had been my mothers. I took piano lessons off an on for years but I wasn't ever very good at it. I could read notes and play a song if I practiced enough. but had trouble cordinating my hands on more complicated pieces.

I know you suffered great humility, but this is funny. I couldn't help but laugh and then felt guilty about it. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am really enjoying these memories.

I can't imagine why you would guilty about laughing. What I want from these stories are laughs. I laugh at them and really want other people to laugh at the as well. I'd rather you would feel guilty if you don't laugh. If I was still six years old, I might not appreciate a laugh. Thanks for the review. I would love to be able to write comedy.

Beth, it doesn't sound negative in any way. I simply love it. You're just saying how it was back in those days. I can imagine your mum.being mortified, but I can also imagine your sore bum. Poor little you! Ulla xcx

Your memory always amazes me Beth. All the details you include to make your story interesting are wonderful. It's not negative...it's just seeing things through the eyes of a child...which we all know is far different than an adults and probably much more interesting. Well done.

Thank you Carol. Some people don't want to remember those days in the past. My husband only rembered the bad things which happened to him. I see I'm remember some bad things to but I can laugh about them now.

As always, your writings are worth a six. My early schooldays were full of prayer and tolerance for others. No one would dare talk back to the teacher or threaten a lawsuit.

Thank you Jim, Yours is the second six star review but it does show up yet because someone didn't like it and gave me only three stars.
It is so nice to have you say it always deserves six.

How could anyone with a heart or a mind give your wonderful writing a three? That's a crime!

Yet another wonderful chapter, this time about your schooling. And what I love about this book is the way you portray events as though they just happened yesterday. A lovely little comment: I'm not leaving it - endears you further to the reader and says so much about your spirit of honesty and baring all (so to speak!) We really are inside your child's mind.
Some suggestions below:
We had an old player piano at home which (had) ...
This type (of) piano
Mom bought (an) owl-shaped cookie jar
The expression lessons were (a further thing) - perhaps to avoid the repeat of 'another'
I got lost and ended (up)...
herd of giants poured (from) the rooms
An excellent read, Thank you Beth! Debbie

Thank you Debbie. I'm gla you still likeing my stories. It almost feels like the things happened just yesterday. Maybe I'm retreating into my second childhood. I wonder how my Mom would feel about these memories if she could have read them. I'm sure her perspective would be a bit different but this is how I saw things.

I just wish I had your memory. Yes I can remember single events but could never put them in this kind of entertaining, cohesive order. That's a true skill!
