What a precious story. It reminded me of so many memories. When my husband was in a doctorial program, he took our three- year-old daughter to class with him. In the middle of one of his classes, she had to use the restroom. He wanted her to wait. Fortunately, a female classmate took her.

I so enjoyed your loving story of a little girl learning the ways of the world while out with grandpa..

Guess we've all been on that field trip! Thanks for putting a smile on my face toas we're waiting for the first of three snowstorms coming our way for the next seven days. Isn't it great to be a grandparent?

Thanks June for reading. I am trying to put together a book of memories of Morgan for her two brothers. She died in 2014 at age 7. Esther

Oh boy. My family would've traveled longer or even rented a motel room to get to a restroom. I was born and raised in NYC. But I have cousins who go to their cabins in PA complete with outhouse. Cute story. No judgment, just different from my own experience.

Thanks for reading. I grew up in the Congo with the idea that girls went right and the boys went left. I won't even tell you what outhouses were like

Hi Esther,
This is a funny story about learning that when you are on a road trip anywhere is a place to pee as long as you are hidden from most people.
This shows the adventuring spirit of both of them. Sounds like he was a good man. Sorry for your loss.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a wonderful weekend
Joan
P S I would like you to now I recently published my first book titled, " The Interloper and other stories in prose and poetry". It is available on
Amazon.com and there is a link to it at the bottom of my profile bio.
I would not have been able to do this without the help of fellow Fanstorians.

There were four daughters in our family. We each carried a jar. That's what the old miracle whip and mayonnaise jars were for! I always had a bladder the size of a thimble. Nice story. Karen

Thanks Karen. I am sure many people have pee stories from our childhood. Grandpa had to teach both our granddaughter and grandson how to "make do" when no bathrooms are available. Ben learned outside Dornbecker's hospital while Morgan was in the intensive care. No time to retrace steps up inside the massive building from parking....sure is easier for boys. Esther.

Hello Esther,
I loved the story, but I was saddened to see that you lost your granddaughter at such an untimely age. How very tragic. I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing this.

I am starting a series of short memories of Morgan's short time with us. Missing My Munchin was my first. I am hoping to put them with pictures and give it to her brothers. Esther

You made me smile with this one as this little girls answers the call of nature and learns to pee outside for the first time! Enjoying the outdoors sometimes means there is a little inconvenience, a fun post Esther, love Dolly x

First, I'm so sorry for your loss. This was a fun and spirited short about nature calling and how she figured it all out. I told my grandson to go pee behind the sand dunes once when we were at the beach. Little did I know, he walked all the way to the edge of the road, over the sand dunes. He dropped his bathing suit and waved at the cars that passed by. Every day is a learning experience. Gretchen

Too funny. Hubby was a logger so no stranger to woodsy bathrooms. Once, however, in AZ he had to poop. Cactus are not very concealing trees. All you can do is wave....
