When I read the title of this contest entry, I immediately started singing the song, 'Take me out to the ballgame.' My husband thought I was crazy. Hmm. I enjoyed reading and have witness of a few of these events at a ball game. LOL Good luck with the contest.

Sounds like you need to switch teams. Lol. I used to love watching baseball. I've seen the braves, watched little league, but my favorite was watching farm league. Colorful players and colorful fans. Great job. Gretchen

I really enjoyed your creative way with words in the baseball themed poem. I am an avid baseball fan, so I appreciated your descriptive phrases. Well done, Bill.

The alliteration in this free verse contest entry rises it above the crowd, and fills it with energy. It really is an outstanding use of language - much enjoyed. kay

Ho-hum. Another day at the ball park, a game that lasted well after dark. Pitches were pitched, balls were thrown, swung on, hit or missed, Pretty girls with their enthusiastic boyfriends were hurriedly kissed, lest the play of the day took place unnoticed.

Tis the season for baseball, and you've given us lots of alliteration to enjoy as we read your free verse offering. I liked repeating "bitter batter" from the first line. It set me up for an enjoyable experience. Best of luck.
(Go Red Sox!)

Even if I didn't live in Massachusetts I am contractually obligated as my father's daughter to ALWAYS cheer for the Red Sox!

Loved this! I have especially missed going to baseball games. When in Connecticut, I attended many Yankees and Mets games and often travelled to Massachusetts to see my team, the Red Sox. Now, one of my goals is to attend a game once more. In our area, we have a team, the Jumbo Shrimp, and I would love just to sit there with a hot dog in one hand and popcorn in the other.

They're playing the Nashville Sounds on Sunday.

Wish I could be t that game!

I like your alliteration. I thought you were writing a tongue twister there first. Like, Betty bought a bit o butter but she said the butter's bitter. If it put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter.
You went from deep sea diving to baseball. You sport choices vary.

Not just a free verse, a free verse TONGUE-TWISTER!! I loved it! No one writes these anymore, and I miss them. Very good job, with a fun story in the mix. I bet this is going to great at the polls for you! Good luck. xo
