This is a beautiful poem, and it's so sad. Lost love is so painful, grieving for a person who still loves and breathes but without you in their lives. I'm sure love will come a knocking once again. Well done and Best wishes

A sad goodbye, an unwanted parting is portrayed beautifully in this poem, Jim. Whether old or young the sadness is still just as cutting. Beautifully written Jim.

This is a beautiful tribute, my friend. I know it's hard to say goodbye. I've seen my grandfather struggle with my grandmother's passing, regardless of how many years go by. A spouse fills so many roles and influences one's life more than we realize. I think you should continue to write her letters. The relationship hasn't ended for sure, it might just be long distance.
