I thought this was an interesting story within a poem. You have some good details going on here, like:
He'd never pass the hist'ry test

He didn't have a phone to use
He couldn't cruise the internet

Little fix:
if black folks gave them too much flack
I think I see it spelled 'flak' more often.

Wow as I was reading this poem, I felt like it was just all a nightmare before a big exam!
But to think that the most simple of things was begrudged from a person because of colour. That's just so so sad. Very well written thanks for sharing your husbands story

It probably was hard to learn when things were not available to you, because of a lack of funds or kept from you so won't be able to learn. One example is in your explanation, periods at the end of some sentences.
Your photo is nice as well as the way your poem is written.
Good luck with your poem and I hope it is review as what happens rather than something that is insulting.
Congratulations on your wins.

This poem, Inherited Books, relates the terrible but in many instances true, especially today, situation of pursuing information and historic references in areas where the unlevel access is real.

Commentary on what life is like in the sum of the public schools today there is no reason the sun that a black student could not learn as well as a white student. When our schools were integrated when I was a junior in high school smart student in my graduating class was a black man, and he was the valid Victorian of class. he made some wrong decisions so after he graduated from high school because his trouble with being able to integrate into the public university that was in our town, he went on to become a doctor, but then he got caught up in drugs, and he took an overdose of drugs and died at a very early age. Thank you for sharing from your heart not only the poem at south but the authors notes. You have brought up extremely important issues and highlighted nearly impossible challenges. It's a tremendous shame to desecrate Books just for the fun of it. Racism is insidious as it is all the chemicals that have reached into our society.

Pamusart, this is a very important, excellent piece! Really should open some eyes to the huge problems that some kids cause for others! It's so maddening that kids would tear pages o out for kicks! Maddy

There can be and has been a lot of injustice throughout history and some not truly documented. And if written, might not be seen by everyone's eyes.
You have written a thought provoking poem . Thanks for sharing this with us.

What a very sad and poignant poem you have written. It is such an eye opener
and so heartbreaking that this type of thing goes on in schools.
Well chosen artwork and very good rhyme. Love Jen. X

Thank you for taking the time to craft and share this insightful piece, Pam. I have never understood the race thing; god created all of us in his image, and this is how I see everyone. I hope many read and review this piece.
God bless,
Steve
