Hi Bill,
I hope you keep this up for the rest of the planets in our little solar system. Anything to do with space, and you've got my attention. When I was in Grade 7, my prize at school closing ceremonies in June for the highest Math marks was a large book about the planets. I always treasured that book.
Venus is much too hot and humid for us earthlings. We'd fry like trout over a campfire, if the acid didn't kill us first. I think we'd do much better on Mars. But really, I don't think the USA, India, Russia, or China should waste any money on an outpost in this solar system. They need to be searching one of the recently discovered exoplanets as a possible base for humans. We are quickly ruining our planet Earth, that's for sure.
I especially like the rhyme of "sister/blister", both great comments for Venus. You also mention that it rotates the opposite way a normal planet does. Just goes to show you there's always a prankster in the mix.
Nicely penned!
Cheers,
Kimbob

This is a very nice Tanka poem with a good presentation. It has the correct format and is informative in its few lines, letting us know it's probably not a place we'd want to visit. Nicely done!

Venus reminds me of one of my sisters.

Well done. Do you know how to remove people from your fanned list? I have folks who load up my mailbox but never read me. Sniffle sniffle. Good picture too.
I still don't understand about poor little Pluto. :-)

Hey, Bill! Been many moons, pal. Sister and blister rhythm and rhymes. Venus must have a liquid core of nickel and iron to cause a magnetic field to spin, Nice looking presentation! Levon song by Elton John comes to mind, When Jesus goes to Venus and leaves Levon behind! And another Venus song comes to mind? Okay, a Tanka, I see. Did a few of them back in the old days. Nicely done! BOO!

You too! Bill.

Does Venus really rotate backwards? I think it would leave a heck of a lot more damage than a puny, wee blister too, sister or not (lol.) I am not entirely up-to-snuff on all this stuff... (*grin*)

I haven't ridden on Venus but that's what Google says.

I liked that you ended this poem with a rhyme. You did a great job describing Venus. I didn't remember that it rotated backwards. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Another interesting five-liner. Are you planning to do a series on all the planets? Or did you PLANET yet? If Venus is my sister, how come she never gives me Christmas presidents?

Wow Billy! I am beginning to wonder if you might be star struck. All of a suddenly, you have become an expert on planets, their movement and their placement in the galaxy. I am being educated and entertained at the same time. I hate that. LOL. No not really. I thank you actually. You are reminding me of how important our solar system is to our very existence.
