There's an old ballad, Stranger on the Shore, that comes to mind as I read your evocative write. The imagery is exquisite. The metaphor of the heart drowning in loneliness brings goosebumps because it is like an omen of the fate of her lover.
Somehow, in the first verse, I imagine that the wind is whispering her name as it caresses her face, almost like the spirit of her absent love. That's my take anyway.
Beautifully written in high romantic style. I recall being with a lover on a magical tropical night. The full moon hung golden above the sighing sea. He refused to take a walk on the beach with me because he was concerned about security. So practical and unromantic! LOLOL
Thanks for sharing this gorgeous write.
Blessings, Cheryl

You've painted a poignant picture with your free verse of love and longing. We can feel the melancholy of her loneliness amidst the stunning beauty of her world. But she notices only what is missing. Him.

Hello Gypsy,
A beautiful free verse with marvelous imagery,
written as in a series of senryu with expanded syllables.
Wonderful art work choices to reflect the emotion.
Nicely done.
Best wishes.

Longing and loneness are both strong emotions and this poem described both emotions perfectly. My heart felt both emotions. Thank you for sharing your God given talent with us.

This was a very emotional poem. I loved the imagery. The sparrows perched upon the reeds as they moved under their weight and bounced in the wind. Beautifully written. Gretchen
