I'm sure your lasting impression with this storm is one that comes to mind often and always has. You all were very lucky and realize how close you came to biting the bullet. Glad you already have a chartreuse plus sign since I'm all out of sixes. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric. I agree I was incredibly lucky. I do remember it all extremely well. I got several sixes on this but thanks for the virtual one you would give me if you weren't out.

Thank you Helen. I'm glad your willing to read the story again for whatever new I might add. I think my grandpa was better at knowint what the weather was going what the weater was going to than all the scientific guesses we get today.

Thank you Dolly. I guess we all get use to whatever inconveniences or dangers we have to live with and start to think what we have we like better than living somewhere else. I perfer warm temperatures and storms to cold, damp and snow. Thanks for the review.

This story, In the Clutches of a Tornado, is a thrilling and "you are there" accounting of this tornado event. So very blessed and fortunate to have survived a direct strike like that. I've seen some devastated bodies, but as an adult. I can imagine such a sight to be scarring for a kid.

A horror story of danger, and yet you all survived. God did answer your prayers! Your poor father! In Australia we have cyclones which are similarly destructive, and cause much loss of life, particularly in the northern and eastern states. Well written.

Thank you Windy, It is interesting that your storms are different. I think I've heard the cyclones are wider and more like a hurricane and that the wind retates in the opposite direction in Australia. I appreciate the review. I know God was watching over us.

I was leaving college in Nebraska, after having just graduated. Two of my friends were driving me to the airport a town away, and because the "points" of one cloud in particular were getting very low, we got out of the car and hunkered down into one of the those highway ditches on the side of the road. LIke you described, the sky got all weirdly yellow/gray, and the feeling of a vacuum was all around us. We could see it touch down an entire town away because it's so flat there. All I could think was, "Oh, my parents are going to be SOOO mad at me if I die here in this ditch after they spent a fortune on my education, and I never got to use it!"

My mother told me when she's a little girl she was standing out on the back porch with her dog and because she had rubber boots on she was spared the dog was killed by the lightning. So I guess your mother had a good idea that you should be wearing the boots in case you were struck by lightning. Wow it's becoming more real for her this is well written.
