Very cute, fun story. Love the picture you chose. roadtrips were alwaysa combination of extreme boredom and over-the-top fun, with not much in between. Thanks for sharing

We did many road trips with Morgan. She was a chatterbox. We now have a map marked off with the road trips we have taken with Ben her brother. He was 3 when she died. Esther

This story has a universal feel to it. I'm sure most of us well remember being the child to whom trips felt so endless, and being the adult assaulted by The Question. You're wise to capture these moments!

Fun memories

This brought back memories of long trips my Dad drove from New York state to Florida. My sister and I played all sorts of games to make the time go faster. Great ending.

Children are so impatient, but as we get older, I think our impatience get even worse. But for me, now that I'm older, I'm more patient than ever. Or maybe I just don't care as much anymore. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

This is a perfect response after are we there yet? "Do you need to go potty?" After the tree experience, Grandpa tried to anticipate these things. Morgan shook her curls.Well written.

This was charming and adorable. I think I remember the piece about the bathroom adventure. I loved this fun little piece. I wish you still had those pictures, too! Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Aww. Aren't those memories so precious now? At the time, it's a bit annoying because of the repetitive whining but as grandparents we are more understanding. Today's kids just play on the cell phone or watch a movie. I like your game better!

Fun games for car rides are a thing of the past now. Grandpa never lets the kids do the cell phone on road trips...

Funny how children define time. I remember when I didn't know what was longer, a second or minute. When I was very young, my mother would ak me what time it was. If I saw the little hand on 8 and the big hand on 1, I would say, "It's one after eight".

Please forgive my tardiness in replying. I have had much trouble with my wheelchair and could not spend much time on the site for a few days. I am thankful for your words and works.

Esther dear,
This is adorable and relatable. Car trips back then with no air-conditioning added to the endless question, "Are we there yet?"
Sweet little flash for my summer day.
Sending you my best today as always, and my good wishes in the contest.

I couldn't help but have a giggle at this one, think most folk have a tale about the kids asking that iconic question and the impatient question posed by the kids wherever they live in the world, well done, blessings Roy
