You show more strength in writing this poem than any mortal man should be able to. You can keep your points and member cents, the reward was reading the devotion and love left between the lines. You speak of a reunion, but I don't think you are separated in any way. Keep her in your heart and keep giving. You show in your poem that you can do this. I can only extend a virtual handshake and a hug, but what I have received from you is a sense of hope and faith. Worth way more in my book.

Although we have never met, your kind, uplifting and encouraging comments mean the world to me. I would gladly accept a handshake and hug from so caring. I thank you so much for this.

Good luck.

I had to wait a while before I responded to the beautiful poem you wrote, Nomi. I find myself in that locker some days, when I feel my wife might slip away in her sleep. Imagining that moment keeps me at the keyboard, seeking distraction. We pray for your strength and well-being through this season of change. Blessings.

Thank you Bill. We tease each other so much that it becomes easy to not realize that we are men with real feelings. We can feel sad or silly depending on what is going on in our lives. I think my sense of humor is the only thing that keeps me from becoming a total wreck.
I was a mess when your wife was in hospital. Likewise I was overjoyed when she returned home to you.

My dear sweet friend, I was so, so sorry to hear the news of your dear wife's passing. I have been off the site for a while and I needed to tell you how sad I am to read this. 51 happy years together is a long time, and to have her suddenly taken from you while you slept, I can't imagine the pain you must have felt when you realised she was gone. Your poem is heartbreaking, and I don't think it at all strange that you wrote it so soon. When I have had sad things or bad things happen to me, I immediately write a poem. We can pour our hearts out, our emotions; it's the only way I can cope. We all deal with death and grief in different ways. I'm sending much love, and prayers for you to be able to get through the days, weeks, and months ahead with the knowledge we are all there for you. You are much loved. God be with you, my dear friend. Sandra xxx

Dear Nomi, this is so beautiful and tender, my friend. Yes, we tend to write in good times and in times of sorrow and loss. It's who we are as poets and writers. Thank you for sharing this and beautifully so.
Know I'm holding you and your family up in prayer.

Thank you Steve. It is at times like these that we are able to rely upon our developed abilities as writers to find a way to deal with some of the ever present challenges that life sometimes will throw at you.

Yes! Healing through writing heals so many people, my friend.

I am not a good enough poet to share something for the book, but I want you to know that I echo the beautiful poems (and prose) of others here. My prayers are with you, for strength, comfort, peace and encouragement as you begin this difficult journey. I know the Lord jesus will hold you in His loving arms, and that He understands your pain and loss.
Christian love.

Poignant. My wife and I are approaching 51. We don't like to think about it, but we know the time is coming. How do you fill that void, a part of you for so long, and move on? I'm sure each of us will find a way, but it won't be easy. You have so many friends willing to share your pain and support you in your healing and that alone is comforting. May your journey continue in Yvonne's memory because you have so much to give. Be well my friend and may God's love give you the strength to be strong in this time sadness. You are truly blessed. Thank you, I am afraid that if I find another my daughters will be very upset with me for replacing their mother. Besides, at my age, I do not have very much to offer to another woman.
-
If it is meant to be, it will happen, and your daughters will support you because they see who you are. The people who know us are often a much better judge of what we have to offer. Be true to your heart. The rest will eventually fall into place. But first, you must heal. I wish you the best. Don't rush it. Enjoy her memory and let her guide you. Be well.

Wow, Nomi, this is well written but so sad. I hope you have found some consolation in the thought of meeting her again. I am sure you will do no wrong. Thanks much for sharing.

Thank you for your fine comments. I will try to avoid situations that may prove to be tempting replacements romantically speaking.

I'd guess those glorious 51-years with Yvonne seem to have passed within mere days; but as a man of God, He promised you will know each other in Heaven as here on earth and soon you'll be reunited for all of eternity. I'm so sorry for yours and your family's sudden loss my friend!

Your love for her and the pain of your loss is in every word. I have no doubt that one day you will be reunited with her.
In the meantime, your words show you will be keeping your love for her forever in your heart.
Again my condolences.
