I'm wondering if Clyde secretly enjoys the moniker "truck killer" and is actually having some sort of fun doing what he's doing. In Breaking Bad, Walt started out his meth-making entirely for leaving it to his family when he wouldn't be around, but over the course of the show, his own desire for power and money and the high it gave him became his raison d'etre.
Although Thurmon seemed to understand Clyde's reasoning for doing what he does, I wonder if most others aren't getting it, because, as you say, the truckers' driving seems to be getting even worse than before. Seems like J.D. Trucking is at least taking heed and trying to increase the safety of their drivers. But maybe that's just a ploy and a message to the truck killer to lay off his trucks.
Oh, this is getting complicated, but good.
I feel sorry for the son, and Thurmon for that matter, for not being able to talk things out, but it was a tense moment.

Certainly Clyde feels pride in his success, his ability to teach truckers lessons. He might even begin to feel that a couple hours out of their day isn't enough, he should permanently disable the trucks! I could have him sense his wife reigning him in.

Clyde is off in his own world - he IS a terrorist and good people like Thurmon will end up hurt, with damage to their trucks causing them to lose work, money lost, and even less family time. Time he got caught. But it is good to learn about the life and difficulties faced by the truck-drivers.

Thank you. Notice I'm not glorifying Clyde.
Of the thousands of opportunities for contact between a trucker and a car every day, it is probably impossible to drive perfectly. But the egregious offenders present real hazards.
Clyde will not be the hero of this story.

I like Thurmon. What a good father to even consider that his tone of voice could hurt his son's feelings. I hope Clyde signs up to drive. Maybe he can learn about the good drivers that way

Wish I had a six! Your story keeps moving so well! I could see this as a motion picture, with interjecting scenes of Clyde and Thurman. I appreciate all the info you put into the story. I have learned a lot about the truckers' world.

When I worked at a paper, there was a car dealership across the way. One unfortunate trucker forgot to lock in his cargo and in the middle of traffic, a brand new car fell off, avoiding the traffic but ending up crumpled and smashed. II felt so bad for the drivers.

I feel bad for Thurmon and the situation with his family. I know this happens with multiple professions, but it always makes me feel bad for the child.

Thank you! Yes, Clyde is terrorizing the highways. Just because he targets trucks, doesn't preclude auto drivers from feeling the terror as well. What I'm hoping to show is how easily a person can be captive to a mindset (vengeful targeted road rage). And that we are all human and everyone makes mistakes. A trucker may have a thousand meaningful encounters a day. Even a tiny error percentage impacts a lot of car drivers. It's the egregious who Clyde looks for, though he might zero in on one whose skill set is generally exemplary.

I remember the Truckee song years ago, and their distinctly idiomatic language, iconic in its delivery, almost like rhyming Cockney, and Aussie rhyming language/slang. I like this, terrorists are people with a bee in their bonnet, they allow vengeance to be a self righteous appointment for judgement, beautifully written Wayne, blessings Roy

Thank you. Believe it or not. The leaf blower incident 'was' real. It happened right in front of us. I commented to my wife, "Look at that leaf blower. It could bounce right out of there." Less than a minute later it happened. We were very fortunate not to have a several-car pile-up.
