Hi, Iza. It's been a year or more since we connected on Fanstory. I take breaks from fs too, but the friendship here always brings me back.
Your true story is humorous, yet a little tragic that you had to leave your cats! lol. I left my dog, Ruby, with a friend for almost three months a year ago, and she still hasn't forgiven me.
I had a trip a little like yours in 1976 when my flight overseas was delayed five times due to a snowstorm in Buffalo.

The trials and tribulations of travel always make for memories, some good, but many more are painful. I can relate to your story since I traveled internationally for six weeks away and one week home for twenty-five years. after my first year, I always planned for something to go wrong, and it usually did.

It's a fun story--maybe not for you, but for the reader. I like some of your phrases, like " well-behaved sheep and confused cats, feast on Starbuck junkies". The story transported me to my airport delays, which, at times, are more memorable than the actual trip if you can retain your sense of humor. gayla

It was an adventure and I memory about the first days of your freedom. It is funny about the airline taking crews from other airlines before they could fly. I know you cats were happy when you finally arrived back home.

I have no airplane stories. I had a nice time every time I went somewhere. Then again the furthest I went was from Houston, Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada for a job. I played some slots and won some money. I had a good time. Driving trips. I've had one or two weird ones. Good writing. Karen

That sounds like it was quite an adventure, and I enjoyed listening to it very much. I want to congratulate you on using a little larger phone than a lot of people use. It helps me as a person with limited vision to be able to read along with your work.

The frustrations of flying, and of beaurocracy, come through in your post. It's the same old story, once they have your money, they don't care about you. You are on your own to fend for yourself. But you tell the story with plenty of personality and self depreciating humor. Sometimes we have to laugh and move on. estory
