Morality has truly gone astray, with new rules displacing the old wisdoms' ways. Man pays the price of his wisdom in foolishness, and all suffer for it. Well done, dear Roy. I enjoyed every bit of the poem, and wonder why man would prefer darkness to light.

You nailed it my friend in so many ways. This world we live is falling apart piece by piece and God is seeing it is not His ways. Great set of words written and no picture needed. Thank you for sharing.

Love of God and neighbor kept life simple and on an even keel. But today people don't want to listen to the Captain. So, the world is paying the price by shipwrecking their lives with uncontrollable hate and violence. And whom can they blame, but themselves?

Yes Roy I agree whole heatedly, love is what makes the world go around. If we loved each othe in the way God loves us, wouldn't the world be such a wonderful place, there's too much hatred and unkindness. Well done.
Best Wishes
Nicki

Thought I should answer your question. What is a moral. In my forty years in the TAB I was tipped many morals. That term referred to a horse racing that day that couldn't be beaten. As my TAB was close to Warwick Farm racetrack, and mostly this inside knowledge came from trainers, trackwork riders or others in the know, I believed I was in the KNOW. Alas on those days, I returned home with an empty wallet. Though I did get commission on the $20 bet. My commission was 1.8%, which meant I only lost $19.36
out of every $20 bet. Guess that explains why I'm poor today.

Sadly, the Golden Rule doesn't seem to fit into today's way of doing things.
Your first stanza states the problem clearly. Of course the only way to right the ship is to go back and follow the Golden Rule. Hope someone is listening before it's too late.

So why do men think these new rules
make wise those folk who once were fools.
Excellent lines.

Well done.
Blessings
Janet

Yes, loving God and loving our neighbor would certainly solve many problems in this world, if everyone obeyed these two commandments. I like the third line especially. Good rhymes, and a thoughtful message. Blessings. Carol

Hello Roy,
I wish I had a six for this. You've hit the nail on the head. Whatever happened to mankind to make us believe the lies that seem to be so prevalent now? I understand that no one wants to be told no, but at one time, we all pretty much followed the same moral standard. Now society is trying to convince us that women can be men, that the heroes of the past were actually scoundrels, that mankind is inherently good, that we can have control of our destiny. When we toss God out of our midst, what do we use to determine what is right and wrong? We're all paying the price and I fear it's going to get much worse. Thanks so much for sharing this timely word.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

The world has always had its problems throughout Time, but it certainly seems in these recent times that things have become more selfish, chaotic, uncaring, and destructive. My mantra has always been Be Kind and words to live by The Golden Rule. Your poem expresses the sad changes we see today so well. Nicely done!

I, who was once on the wrong side of this division, can tell you lust will lead to emptiness and death. God will lead us into the right paths for us if we only seek Him with all our heart.
