So, so sad. I just can't understand people who beat their kids senseless, mind you the boy should know that Mitch meant well, but of course hatred doesn't reason, and unless he forgives Mitch, the monster in the room remains, beautifully written Gretchen. Blessings Roy

Yep, Mitch has a ghost that will haunt him forever. I am betting this will come back later in this story. I really enjoy reading this.
But he had designs on one girl, her name wasJen. (was Jen)

I imagine some think the friend he didn't stop for beating his kid up would be something Mitch might have regrets about. i wondering if there will be more in this book about the friend. I look forward to more.

I bought that book, Gretchen, it was so sad. I can see why Mitch would be so upset. That it could be a true story also brings it home. This was a sad, but very well written chapter, capturing his emotions exactly how I would have imagined, and expected. It deserves a six, as do all your stories. I was giving them away without realising it on Sunday. Its been an emotional time for me, it was the first anniversay of my brothers death yesterday, and I've been a bit of a slobbering wreck. I'll be back in control soon.
I thought this chapter was exceptional, my friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

Another interesting read. A bit of a diversion from your regular line. When are these two gonna get married? Just one small spag, this time around. her name was(space)Jen.

That's probably the worst kind of ghost - the one that triggers guilt and deepest regrets. Poor Mitch wanted to believe the best in his friend but didn't know how much he really needed medical help mentally. A sad chapter. I wonder how Miranda will help Mitch with this.

I love that all your stories seem to touch each other in some way, it seems to make them all non fiction Gretchen. You have a special way of delivering your stories to make them sound so authentic. Mitch has a heart and he sounds like such a good guy and it is difficult as a law man to interfere in people's personal lives, you can only do so much as an outsider. A sensitive story Gretchen, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

It's sad to think that child abuse could ever happen, any adult human being would ever intentionally hurt anyone for no reason, much less a kid. But it happens every day somewhere. Thanks for sharing.

Oh no, what a sad story. I can understand Mitch's pain and remorse, and distress. He must have been fairly young at the time, but he still knew that the child would suffer. Those memories will remain with him, unfortunately. Great story.
