-Thanks for sharing the image, notes, and poem, Patricia.
-I didn't know this was the word of the year.
-You wrote a good nonet about it.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-Good use of alliteration in line two.
-You do a good job characterizing her
and how she would like the young man
to ask her to go to the prom.
-Very well done; Happy Thanksgiving.

That is the word of the year. Your author's note helps us to understand the meaning. The poem and picture tell the story. The young lady looks quite demure. Evi

Your poem is a tribute to a a woman of beauty in character, a woman wo is reserved, modest and shy. The word, modesty, appears to be a distant description of many of our today's girls. Thanks for sharing your poem, dear Pat, and teaching me a new word. Best regards,

This nonet, Demure Girl, has the proper formatting and seems to describe the woman in the picture who has won a heart through being herself and not someone she is not.

I was surprised to hear that it is word of the year, so I looked it up, and apparently the resurge in popularity is due to a certain beauty influencer who uses the word a lot - but her own looks are far from demure! Thanks for sharing your Nonet about this - and let's hope more young women choose to become truly demure.

I have been hearing that word a lot lately. I though maybe they had changed it to mean something else, but who knows. Very nice poem. I like the old fashioned feel. Not flaunting but old fashioned romance. Gretchen

I had to look up the word in the Thesaurus, I had a general idea of what the word meant, but you do not hear it used much these days. A lovely nonet, and demure.

It's interesting that 'demure' would be chosen as the word of the year, when much of our world is blatantly erotic. Perhaps it's a call for the pendulum to shift a little. Good nonet, with a nice picture. Blessings. Carol
