What a horrible development. Kendra is with James, the perfect man for her, but she would rather compete with Vanessa to try and capture Ethan's attention. Kendra has her work cut out for her...nicely get rid of James, and get Ethan to notice her.

Carol, you're a heck of a writer. I know you can make it happen. I look forward to reading it.

There's a challenge for Kendra! Her friends are all correct - Ja,es is the one she should choose, but sometimes there just is no spark. Will she continue to hunger for Ethan and ignore Vanessa's warning? If Ethan Graham is genuine and astute, he will know what Vanessa is like and get rid of her. He does seem to be feeling a connection with Kendra as wel - even if she is "out of his league". Maybe he wants someone who is worthy of his love, not just after his money.

Oooh, she has a problem. James is wonderful and the perfect man to be in love with, but . . . Ethan captured her heart a long time ago on a train and she can't forget him. He does seem to recognize her, but does it mean anything? Vanessa seems to be worried that it does.

Goodness, Carol, you're on fire at the moment! And yet another stunning read. This is definitely my favourite. I love the idea that Kendra is so fixated on this man and will listen to no one (why should she?) when they suggest that he's out of her league. The frisson she feels when she's in the same room as him is skilfully portrayed and relatable to many of us who have experienced that magnetic and irresistible connection. Even James, who sounds the sweetest and most attentive of partners, suddenly pales into insignificance beside him. And then you end on this teasing hook, Carol. How dare you:) I'm definitely in for the next read. Many thanks. Warm wishes Debbie

Of course, in general terms, Kendra's friends are right, people like Ethan socialise in their own so-called class of people. But it makes for a lot more interest, like the prince and the pauper, a down at heel commoner marrying a prince, always a great story, despite cinical friends, well done, blessings Roy

Interesting chapter! Doesn't it always seem that when a woman is interested in a well-to-do man others tend to tell her to stay in their own league?

She didn't know he had a dime when they met by chance on the train and yet she's had a fixation on him and this "unfinished business" long before she learned of his financial success!

I don't know what will happen but I, for one, am tired of people telling perfectly wonderful women to decrease their expectations and "stay in their lane."

Let's see what happens next!

You have all the words and thoughts down to a science, appropriately called knowing and understanding people. Where so many writers write what they've read or learned by reading, a select few have learned their craft through living, and it always shows. Thanks for sharing.

Great chapter. The dialogue with Rachel and Mark offers Kendra some sound advice, but she seems determined to learn more about Ethan. Then the conversation with Vanessa seems to present her a challenge. You left us at a crucial spot in the story. Blessings. Carol

I'm wondering if Ethan noticed her go outside for air by herself. That's the real question. Will he follow her? I do like this story.

"Ethan Graham leaving the hospital with his sister, Caroline Graham." (I knew it was his sister.)

Her stomach churned. Thanks to James and his plus-one invitation, she was set to attend the next reading.
James. (not sure why James is here by itself.)
