Boy, you were certainly hot stuff. I never got that much attention, Someone told me later, that a lot of guys wanted to ask me out. But, I was too pretty and it seemed as if I had a big leave me alone sign I carried with me. I did not know much about guys, so I had no real interest. The first date I had, the guy, grabbed my boob and I socked him in the nose. I guess he passed the word around.I didn't break it, but it sure bled. Nice story. Karen

Whew... hard to believe so much of that happened in such a short period of time... Brings back lots of memories, my lady! Thanx for sharing that pen even during the holiday! ;) Yvette

I remember 1956 well, and the emergence of Elvis, Little Richard, the Big Bopper, Chuck Berry etc. Jeans and T shirts, girls in rope petticoats and pedal pushers, I loved the fifties, although a young, young teen. Beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy
Typo : Elvis took the world(e)

Thanks for the nice review. Yes, Music was changing in with rock band. Soon all that English groups would be popular. Were you in a rock band?

It's a wonderful chapter in your book, Beth. I was only four years of age in 1956, so I don't have a detailed recollection of it. I do remember some though, as it was the year we got our first television.
You write this so very well. I love to read how you and Evan are dating in a world of big change. Hugs, Ulla xcx

Thank you, Ulla. I had a lot of fun that year and I thought the fifties was a wonderful time to grow up. There were bad things going on but at my age I wasn't that concerned about it. Thank you so mcuh for the six stars.

This was particularly interesting to me because I was born in 1956. It was fun to read about all the things happening that year. It sounds like you had a great time at college doing all the thing that young people do to discover the new world around them and grow up.

Marilyn I appreciate the review and your comments. I guess my life was similar to your parent's life. From the time I was born the world had come a long way by 1958. It has come a long way since them but I thought those were good years.

It does sound like it was a really interesting time to be alive and I think you captured that well in your memories, Beth. It does sound as though it was a very special Christmas for you. Another excellent chapter, I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you, Jacob. We you nearly 18 it a good age to be alive no matter what else is going on in the world. To be young in in love and have people like you and not have any major crisis going is as good as it gets.

This was another fantastic chapter in your life Beth...You seem to fit into the college atmosphere with no problem and blending with the boys, though balancing the give and take of it, and keeping Evan happy at the same time. that was quite a feat! You are to be commended. I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you, Carol. I did enjoy college more than high school. That small Jr college where I spent my frirst year is no longer there.

Everything seems to disappear as we age...it's sad how many historic buildings are torn down.

Beth,

This is a great story. I can't imagine living in the south during such turbulent times. Were you ever affected by it? Sounds like you an Evan are moving right along. Did you ask him to marry you?

Well done my friend

Cecilia

Thank you, Cecilia. I was directly affected by the Civil Rights drama but you couldn't help but notice what was going on. Stay tuned to find out how we came about getting married.

I had no idea your college was so multi cultural Beth, how interesting that is. It sounds like you embraced this part of your life and took to college life like a duck to water. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us, I will soon know your entire history! A fine post, love Dolly x x x

This was a great chapter with so many things happening that year. Thanks for giving us the global view and the changes that were beginning even in Newton. I liked that your old rival became more friendly getting to know you as a person outside of the school's competitive environment. I wonder if you kept writing to that man you met on the bus. :)) I'm sure Evan wouldn't approve.

Thank you, Helen. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. The boy on the bus and I exchanged letters about six times. He was having so much fun at dances and UFO parties I decided he didn't need me anymore.
Thank you so much for the six stars.
