Of course she should talk because God is always with us, I've learned that He appreciates knowing His beloved, and that's exactly what we are, He yearns for us to know He is always with us, until forever, beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

I believe I never would have made it this far if I didn't believe that the Lord is always by my side. Your poems remind me of that a lot.

This is a really involved story for the contest. That your first caller should be the daughter who doesn't really talk to you very often and is determined to misunderstand, opens a whole can of worms. Everyone she talks to isn't worried about you, and she doesn't somehow think of God, even when you tell her. Some people are like that. Great story.

Unfortunately, she may toot her horn when asked and say she does, but her actions scream something so different. Thanks for the understanding and for the lovely stars. I am blessed.

This one deserves a six, so here it is. What a marvelous story and so beautifully written. Way to go, Carol. I truly enjoyed reading this story and don't see any need for improvement. It's perfect as it is.

Of course, this is based on my reality, but not word for word.... I woke up and the story was there in my mind...I am thrilled you enjoyed it.

I thought I knew where this was headed as I talk to the same "Man" every morning. My kids might know that if they called more often. (Sad smile)

Lots of meaningful messages tucked into this one, Carol...

Faith is a fine companion who never fails.

Kids assume and fret but often do not take the time to ask...or talk to God.

This old world would be a better place if the elderly had respect and attention, and God were the first conversation for many more people!

This is a strong contender for the winner, in my opinion.

Thanks, Karen...I guess you can probably figure out where my head was at when I wrote this one... though Corrie would say I was senile but she'd never make the effort to ask anyone else like she did in this story..She'd just say oh well. I know you have some of the same feelings.

Ah, Mom sure knows how to create a mystery and get her daughter worried about a misunderstanding due to her jumping to conclusions. Hope Corrie really talks to God and allow Him to change her! Best wishes in the contest!

I hope she does too, Helen but my fears are that she's a superficial believer. she likes to say she is, but she doesn't live by it too well. But that's her choice and mine was to remove myself as much as possible from the commotion.

Well, I think we knew it wasn't a man. At first I thought it was a dog or a cat. This is FanStory after all. But, I forgot about God. I think you have all the elements needed to take first place: lighthearted, safe family friendly humor, and a close-knit family with a daughter worried about an elderly mother. And you have a good spiritual ending.

Well crafted. First place.

I talk to my dogs all the time, and sometimes in their own way I think they answer me which gets a little freaky. LOL Glad you enjoyed reading and I appreciate it very much.

A wonderful story Carol! Unfortunately it is so true - kids don't have enough time for their parents, certainly not for in-depth and meaningful conversations, and they jump to wrong conclusions about them as well. Imagine if no one set them straight about the fact of on-going conversations (prayer) with God, a real friend and companion (not a boyfriend). This lady could have been referred to a psychiatrist by an unthinking and uncaring daughter, when in reality she's as sharp as a tack!
Best wishes for the contest.
Wendy

If it wasn't for Matthew, Corrie probably would be seriously thinking about it. Instead, she's too busy to even care.

It takes a lot for somebody to get a six star rating out of me, but you have just received one from me. Most weeks I only use one or two Six star ratings and there are some weeks when I don't use any six star ratings so it usually has to be something that's very special and you have just hit the special spot with me. Patricia.

I wish I had a six, this is an excellent entry for the contest, such a beautiful message, and like your hero I need an audience with God As well. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Aw, Carol, this is a great entry for the contest. I really hope it will win. The misunderstandings are hilarious. I simply love it. The dialogue is wonderfully realistic. I can just imagine it all. All the best of luck. Ulla xxx

Thanks, Ulla. It wasn't exactly my life but fairly close...I just got to thinking about it and when I started writing the story just fell into place. Glad you fund a few laughs.
