Well, after being gone or out of commission for over a couple and still likely another few weeks away from writing and reviewing up to speed, I hope I haven't missed too much. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Ric.
I've been wondering about you and how you've been doing. I certainly hope you're doing OK Hi thank you for the positive review and six star-award. I don't usually add chapters to these book things but I caved in on one. I decided to throw a curveball and change direction of the whole story. You take good care of yourself and I'll be looking for your words on here. It's great to hear from you.

I enjoyed what you did with this story. I smiled when I saw the mention of Fefe who had a cameo appearance in chapter 2 (my chapter). After all his years as a PI, Ethan is finally thinking of changing careers. I love the twist in the trajectory of the story. It makes it even more challenging for the next writer. Thanks for this entertaining chapter.

Thank you very much. Ethan needs a new job. He is not a happy guy. He needs to hang out with a new crowd. Perhaps an evening at a Waffle House will do the trick. Thank you for your positive and observant review.

This is an incredible addition to this multi-book, Robert. Great segway! It sounds to me like Ethan has been forced into a mid-life crisis, which is no wonder, given all the turmoil he's faced and is still facing. I have never known anyone named after a pastry before either, that was clever.
I can't wait to see where this goes from here.
God bless,
Steve

Thank you very much, Steve. I appreciate your take on my silly and diversionary departure from the story. Every story needs a diversion. The fact that there is a Waffle House involved makes it even better. We have a lot of them in North Carolina.

My pleasure, Robert, and I love Waffle House.

You did a great job with the story, Robert. I like how you capture the inner workings of Ethan's mind as he ponders what he should do. He is tired of the life he is leading; it is a dangerous one. The opening hook is very good and lets the reader know what he had wanted to do with his life. I like the line about S.S. being the only woman he knew "named after a pastry."
A good segue to his thoughts about being an agent for baseball players. He could make a lot of money that way, and it wasn't dangerous. The walnut covered waffle sounds really good, too. This causes him to think about working in The Waffle House where it is a lot safer.
A very good conclusion that allows the direction for the next person to follow up on it. Very well done. I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you very much Pam.
Thank you for those beautiful six stars, but even more, I appreciate your take on my silly story line. I wanted to give Ethan a chance to make a career move. He was running with a rough crowd. The Waffle House proved to be a great place for him to ponder his future. We have a bunch of them in North Carolina.

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Robert. I appreciate your reply and I think it was good to have given Ethan a career move. A good idea about the Waffle House, too. A more homey atmosphere.

Hello Barbara.
Thank you for taking time to read and review my chapter. I just thought it would be a good time for Ethan to find another career. Things are a little rough in the one he has. The Waffle House is a good place for him to think about it.

I love this self-reflection on the part of our protagonist! Of course he's getting weary - what with all those dog bites and gunshot wounds. Who wouldn't be? Catering may well be the next career choice. Great sense of reality seeping in, especially when he realises that Strawberry Shortcake is "the only person he had ever met in his life named after a pastry." Great humour, nice pause in the story, crafted with style. Well done, Robert! Take care Debbie

Hello Debbie.
Thank you very much for the great review and comments. I thought it would be a good idea to take Ethan off in a different direction. His gumshoe efforts don't seem to be leading him where he wants to go. After a big waffle at the Waffle House, I'm sure his thinking will be much clearer.

LOl...Mid-life crisses - contemplating changing from law enforcement to a chef in a waffle house.... but Ethan likes the dames too much I think. But John follows you and he's the "resident chef" (and has the sliced finger to prove it) so we shall see where he takes us with this one. thank you so much for sending us spiraling in so many directions and so many possibilities for the story.

Good Segway in the story for the main chatector to question his choices he's made in life.
What better way then to go to a Waffle House in the middle of the night.
Good chapter...

Hello John.
Thank you for your complimentary and kind words. You're so right. Where else are big decisions made other than Waffle House? There are no distractions there.

I'm the next chapter up from yours in this series. I have a few ideas based on your chapter.

I always stayed within my comfort zone concerning job choices, a close friend thought I should have been a short order cook, I was good at catering for many, but I never did try to dot it out, beautifully written, blessings Roy
Typo : only a couple (of) feet away.

Hello Roy.
Thank you for your kind review. The Waffle House is an iconic chain of small, short order, restaurants all over the country. They are often the subject of short stories and jokes. You can get a waffle there morning, noon, or night.

When we were in the states, my wife loved the waffles, but my taste buds rebelled, too jested to savoury, heh heh. Bless you

Hey Dolly.
The Waffle House is often the subject of jokes and anecdotes. It's a chain of short order restaurants mostly in the South and Midwest. There are over 2000 locations in the country. You can go there late at night and have a full breakfast.
