Firstly, I am glad you are feeling better and on the road to recovery. You had me laughing out loud throughout. I thought these kinds of hospital dramas and dilemmas only happened to me. This makes me feel so much better. I love a humorous story and this is so well written. Thank you for sharing.
Best wishes,
Amelie

This is so amazingly well-edited and too funny as well. I laughed out loud, and identified strongly, since I too had a knee replaced and experienced much of what you described. I'm pretty sure I could not have written ANYTHING while recovering, much less a hilarious account of my not-so-fun experiences. This was very impressive and I saw not one thing I would change. I don't think you have to worry about offending anyone. You are never too graphic. This was simply fun to read. My best wishes for your rapid healing and the joys of having a new and smoothly functioning knee.

Tom, it sounds like those operating room people were sadists! I never heard of such treatment. You make me glad I didn't have my knees done. Did the pain med for post surgery not work?
I'm so sorry you've been going through all that and hope the pain will ease off soon.
You know, I hadn't read this until just now and when you called the other day I didn't know what you were referring to- I should have asked. Well, anyway, congratulations on All Time Best, and I hope your knee heals soon and stops hurting.

Hello Katharine,
I'm sorry that I didn't respond sooner, but I haven't been on the computer for a few days. It hurts to sit for too long at the desk. I was at PT yesterday, and it was really painful. The meds are powerful and they do help a bit, but not as much as I wish they would. I have a lot of swelling on the knee, and it hasn't subsided, so if something doesn't change soon, I'll have to consult the doctor again. What fun! Thanks so much for the empathetic review gal.
Have a blessed day. Stay safe!
Tom

I guess you're still putting ice on it? It seems too long for it still to be swollen, but what do I know? I can't remember if you said whether or not you'd been to your follow-up?
-
Yes I went the other day, and the doctor mentioned icing it. He was a little concerned, and the therapist was pretty concerned yesterday. Hopefully the ice will work soon. Thanks for caring gal.
-
the doc checked for infection???
my father and first husband were doctors, so pardon me for asking questions.
-
I don't recall. I know that they were concerned about that, and the doctor is certainly a pro. They said if it started to weep, to call them anytime of the day or night. I'll monitor it and see what Monday brings. Thanks for your concern gal.
Blessings!

fingers crossed!

It is nice to hear from you again. I am sorry you had to go through that, but happy that is over. The Dulcolax never helped me either my friend. I pray each day gets easier and better for you! Blessings, Teri

Hello Teri,
thanks so much for the well wishes and kind words. I'm getting better, but it sure seems like a long haul.
Have a blessed evening.

Your experience, though traumatic and uncomfortable, was written with clarity, and in a humorous and entertaining way.
When I had surgery on my shoulder, I had a machine that ran ice water up and down my shoulder and arm. Plus, last year when I was released from the hospital for another reason, my daughter bought me one of those toilet seats with arms. Hey, they make it easier to get up.
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope and pray you have a speedy recovery.

Hello LJ,
I'm so glad you enjoyed this post. I've got one of those machines with the water, as well as one that moves my knee up and down. There is a charity in town that lends out those chairs, walkers, canes and other helps for those dealing with surgery. I've got some of everything, and am so glad I don't have to pay for it all.
Have a blessed evening gal.

If your thing is considered a possible p*nis, get back to that hospital. lol jk
I'm glad you're feeling better. From 26 yo I have been in and out of the hospital from MS attacks and I used to like to make friends with everyone there. It's a good attitude to have.
Best wishes!! Stay well!

Hello Alex,
thanks for the humorous review gal. Oh my, I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with MS. I've had several friends who've had it, and I know it's no picnic. You take care of yourself. I'll be praying for you.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Aww. I try to get to know everyone.
Thank you so much, Tom! I could use prayers and I pray too. I handle MS with humor when I can, too.
Nice to meet you and have a good evening, friend,
Alex

Well, I thought the sex box was totally unnecessary until you brought out your penis in the Author's Notes! (huge laughy face here)
Stupid turtles!
Great story.
One of my surgeries the anesthesiologist told me the drug he would use. I asked if that wasn't the same as killed Michael Jackson - "Yes, but I won't be going out for a sandwich."

Hello Wayne,
that's so funny! I asked about what they were going to give me and they mentioned fentynal, the stuff that's been killing young people all over the country. Obviously, if it's monitored by professionals, you're outcome is considerably better. Still, it's scary to think about. Right about now I wouldn't mind having something strong though. I went to PT this afternoon, and I feel worse than before I went. I'll be glad when this is over. Thanks so much for the outstanding review Wayne, I loved it.
Have a blessed evening.

You did such a great job describing your ordeal. I take absolutely no pleasure in your discomfort, but you described it in a very entertaining way. I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Hello Jessi,
I so appreciate your kindhearted review gal. I'm getting pretty tired of dealing with this, even though it's only been a week- seems like lots longer. I'll get through this eventually, but not soon enough in my opinion.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

You're hilarious, my friend. I especially loved your concern for a sexual content warning. Hospital gowns are nothing short of embarrassing. No, humiliating! Try having a baby in one. Nothing seems sacred after that...
I'm sorry your knee still hurts. :(( how long before it's better?
Sending you my best today as always.

Hello Sally,
It's been a week tomorrow since the surgery, and I suppose it's somewhat better. I'm going to PT soon, so I'll see how that goes. Nothing but fun. Jan delivered seven kids, and I've seen how humiliating that experience can be. I wish there was a better way to do it, but so far, nothing else has shown. Thanks so much for the caring review gal. Have a blessed day.

Fantastic, Tom. I'm so impressed you were able to write this so humorously in the condition you're in. I haven't had this particular surgery myself (one of the few I haven't experienced yet), but my wife has had both knees done, so I know whereof you speak.
I loved the turtle analogy! BTW, enemas work great for getting things moving from the other hole, even though doctors seem to discourage them. But stay close to the toilet if you're not too ambulatory!
Hope your recovery goes well, my friend. I know it can be quite a challenge. I'll be thinking of you.

Hi Jim,
it's so good to hear from you as always. I thought of the enema, but the other things finally took hold, and now I'm having more of an issue with the train stopping at the station instead of plowing on through. It's a real juggling act trying to find the right balance. Thanks so much for the great review and the six, I truly appreciate it.
Have a blessed day.
Tom
