Everyone in families has their own quirks and uniqueness and one often wonders how kids can be so different from their parents and from wach other. Thanks for the insight into your family life during a tornado.

I'm the one watches the storm and my husband sends the kids downstairs. You were very lucky as the tornadoes have been worse along the Mississippi for the last few years. Your son does sound like the exact opposite of you, but then writers can't be too rigid, we'd break.

Well, the guys had their priorities. A guy's got to eat, regardless. And your husband was the official weather watcher. I'm glad you all stayed safe and weren't affected by the tornado. I enjoyed your comments about the family, especially Andrew saying the schedule had to be maintained. (The girls probably wouldn't have minded some variation.) Interesting and amusing post. judi

I once went to visit my son at Ft. Sil in Oklahoma when he was stationed there. There was a loud siren and he herded us into a cinder block room in the center of the house. It was a very tense few minutes. Great story! Gretchen

I love this story. It is interesting very well written. The men acting like it's not a big deal while the rest of you worry, lol. I can relate to that. Glad you had a nice visit despite the storm.

That's so funny! I think we all wonder if we brought home the wrong baby. Some genes are really surprising. Thanks for the fun story and am happy that the weather did not disrupt the girls' routines!

Barbara,
This is a wonderful story. I always enjoy stories about your family. They provide quite a bit of entertainment. Glad the tornado didn't hit your son's house and everyone was safe.
Well done

A great story, Barbara, about family life and that threat, that, thankfully, I've never had to suffer here in the UK, of a tornado. My favourite line was
"I often worry about my menfolk...." So cool and resigned from experience:) Well done! Take care Debbie

This is wonderful. Your storytelling is so natural and full of personality - I can really picture everything happening. Andrew being a point A to point B person while you like to explore C and D made me laugh! Your writing makes even a tornado warning feel warm! Such a great read!

Hey, Chickee-baby,
How ya doin'? Miss me much?
Note - the correct answer would be yes -- just saying. *smile*
This was a nice, enjoyable read - just what I expected, though you surprised me with a non-fiction piece. The idea of getting to know you better is cool though, so I heartily approve. ha!
A couple tiny notes, if you don't mind:
1.) "Mom, we don't mess with the girls' routine. They eat, bath(e), get read to, and go to bed."
2.) The tornado missed the area of Andrew's neighborhood, but did cause a lot of damage on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.
--> yay! ... but a little redundant... perhaps:
--> The tornado missed Andrew's neighborhood, but did cause a lot of damage on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.
I know that you must be used to dealing with tornado watches and all the fun that entails back home in Texas, right? Us, too. We've been lucky so far, and there are lots of severe storms expected this weekend. Yuck.
Good to see you! Hugs-
