Great story for the flash contest. Sometimes the actual feel of hands on paper sparks the inspiration, at least for those who grew up writing by hand. Lol.
One sentence struck me a little odd:
"Whenever he'd tried on his laptop to write that novel sunk deep in his head, it wouldn't come. " But I know that the "laptop" is key to the story but it feels a little invasive to have the prepositional phrase right there. But maybe that's the effect you wanted.

Your story had me hooked right away! I loved how Jordy's frustration with writing felt so real. And then he stumbles onto this journal. This was such an enjoyable read. It felt like the universe (or something else!) was calling him to finally get his words out. What a moment to end on.

My husband and I found a book in a bed and breakfast in NH. The couple who wrote in it had the same first names as us and it was exactly a year earlier that they wrote to the day. Your short story reminded me of that.
