Yes, I do remember this show and really thought Roy Thinnes was so handsome! I was 12. Loved the aliens who could blend so perfectly into society. Not the same as the Body Snatchers or Triffids. Thanks for the fun walk through memory lane!

I remember the show The Invaders and the actor Roy Thinnes who played Dr. David Vincent on the show. The invaders came from a dying planet and it soon became a case of aliens versus earthlings, well, one earthling as Dr. Vincent tried week after week to convince an unsuspecting public of the invasion.
I like this trip down memory lane.

Hi Harry, as I grew up in Denmark I am not familiar with this series that ran back.in the late sixties. But I can hear how enthusiastic you were about it. The world was such an innocent place back then. Ulla:)))

Well, thank you Ulla for the great review! And yes, you are so right. It was a different time back then...

Fascinating! I don't think I ever saw this series. Maybe it wasn't shown here. However, I think I've heard of David Vincent. Maybe it was in a review or a listing of SF characters. Thanks for the clear and engaging tribute to a series you enjoyed. I'm pretty sure I'd like it too. You explain not only the precis, but also the impact it had on you. I suggest you lose the apostrophe in "aliens versus earthling's" though- there is no reason to have it there.

Hi Harry,
I never watched "The Invaders," but I can see from your essay why it had an impact on you.
There were many great television series in the 1960s as well (insert 'as') the 1970s.
In one episode, a female alien who falls for Vincent, and is killed while running to warn him he is in danger and tells him, "That's what happens to us when we die here on Earth." (how does the woman speak to Vincent if she is killed while running to warn him. Your sentence needs clarity.)
when they died (insert comma and insert 'which') was very different for television during that time (this is an important paragraph because it shows why this series was significant to you.)
The series became a cult classic, (This is important, too, because it includes the aftereffects of the show).

Sounds interesting! I love these pieces you wrote about shows that sound great, but perhaps not that popular that I would have heard about. Adding one to the list to watch!

I was not born when the show run and also living in a communist country this western movie will not be showed on TV. I laughed reading this: "Most of the aliens, in particular the lowest-ranking members or workers, are in green jumpsuits and are emotionless and have deformed little fingers that cannot move and are bent at an unnatural angle, although "deluxe models" could manipulate this finger."

Lol! Yes, that was the way the series went. It was a little humorous I guess, but kind of interesting at the same time. I appreciate the great review!

I don't think there needs to be a comma after "Roy Thinnes" in the beginning of the second paragraph.
I enjoyed how you wrote most of this in the present tense even though the series is long over.
I do not remember this show, as it was before my time, but you made it sound interesting. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you, Harry, for resurrecting that sci-fi series which I, too, enjoyed. I'd totally forgotten about Roy Thinnes and what a low-keyed performance he gave. Good job of describing what made these aliens unique. Rod

I have never seen this show, but just reading your piece about it made me feel as if I was watching it on the television. You pulled the reader in and made it real.
