Thank you for sharing this lovely poem again with us. I enjoyed it so much. I especially like the theme within. Changing times sneak up on us, and so subtly.

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best for your writing endeavors,

Thank you Sally, I'm so glad you enjoyed my poem. I think it expressed thought we all have at times. Life seems to be able to take us in a new direction, often when we least expect it. We love happy surprises, but it the other kind that throws us for a loop.

Beautifully written with what seems like personal experience imbued in each thought.
The concepts presented are definitely relatable to aging and the loss of familiarity and circumstance as years roll on.
I certainly hear you loud and clear.
Blessings

Thank you Shirley, I'm pleased you liked my poem. I think most of us can relate to this. If we live a while we are bound to experience these abrupt ending and changes we hadn't anticipated. I appreciate the review and comments.

love this deep meditation on aging and what we have learned along life's journey. lIke this line the best

So many things which I once did,
I can no longer do.
When they happened for the last time,
I seldom ever knew.

This is a beautifully stated poem. The text is a good size. The message is clearly stated and is relatable. Your rhyme scheme is well-done. Now that I am 68 years old, I agree with you about the seemingly abrupt closing of chapters and how sneaky time appears to be. Your visual fits perfectly.
Thanks for sharing your poem.

Thank you Sandra, I really appreciate the review and you nice comments. You aren't old compared to me, but I was noticing how time was slipping away at your age. I'm glad you liked it.

I am an old soul. My numerical age doesn't reveal my internal age. You are welcome.

I enjoyed the read of this poem. I like the words written above the title
of this poem. Thank you for the author's notes - I am glad you
reactivated the poem. It is a reminder to me to enjoy what we have now
because we can't go back. If things change at least we enjoyed it back in time! I found the author's poem giving a great message! The artwork is awesome! Great Poem - thank you!

Hi Beth,
I really liked this.
It's so true the way all we want when we're young, is to be older... then we get there and time, it seems, is gone. We seem to have flown right through it and we're left wondering where on earth it went? Rachel Ray was saying something of the sort the other day. She said people ask her what her favorite part of her career is so far. She's like... it's all gone by in such a blur of days that she can hardly even remember it. They aren't ever not busy long enough to ever enjoy anything. I think that's what happens. After you're out of high school, or college, you end up being so busy with career and family, that things get away from you and you hardly remember the days, they tend to blur into each other. Good thing we have lots of videos now! LOL

Thank you Susan. I appreciate your review and you sharing what Rachel Ray said about her career going so fast she barely remembers. We need to take time to enjoy the moment because the moments don't last. We have more pictures now and those of us who write can record those moments and maybe they'll remain with us longer. Thank you again.

My first 6 stars of the week! I love the truth of this poem. It is so important that we take a minute(!!!!) to enjoy each day, each contact, even joy and even each adversity at the time they occur. Sometimes we are so focused on tomorrow that we miss today. Once in one of my paths off into some religious search for truth, I saw a picture that was titled, "The Definition of Living in the Now." There was this person, hanging onto a root of some sort on the side of a cliff over a deep abyss. The person reached out to take berry from a nearby vine, and tasting it said something to the effect of, "This is delicious." The root was slowly coming dislodged and, it was obvious that a catastrophe was in the making. Still, there was 'joy in the now'.

Thanks for reviving your beautiful poem. ann

Thank you so much, Ann I appreciate the review and also you sharing the story of someon hanging on to life by a thread but taking time to enjoy the the taste of a berrry. That is a lesson for all of us to enjoy what blessing we have in the preasant and realize the it is the moment that matters.

I can identify with your words here Beth. There is no warning bell for change, it just happens and your life can be turned upside down in an instant. We ride the storm and when the dust settles we have lost those memories that can never be repeated. Your poem has a 'life lesson' sentiments, life is short and we don't realise just how quickly it is all over when the fat lady sings. Much enjoyed, love Dolly x

My husband and I often say, "the older you get, the faster time goes." The last few years are a blur in many ways.

What a poignant and thought-provoking read this is. So much truth to it, and it's nicely rhymed and written.

Great job, Beth:-)

Thank you Pam, I really appreciate your review and comment. I guess there isn't much we can do to change except try to appreciate more the good moments but they are snatched away.

Holy cow. I was thinking just this the other day...

Not nearly as eloquent, but every bit as heartfelt!

Love your analogy with a good book...

You can always begin again.

Not so with life!

    Thank you Karenina, Things are always happening that reminds how we might have done it a little differently if we'd only known this was the last time. If it a person we'll never see alive again it is even worse. Life can throw you some curves. Some say live every day as though it will be your last, but that seems to put a lot of tention into living. One thing for sure, things will change and not always for the best;

I say live live to the fullest and try to leave as few regrets as possible. Also, I always say "I love you" to those I hold dearest, even if we are parting for a short time!

I agree with you. I'm glad that Joy and I said "I love you." to each other the last time we talked last Monday morning.
