Lord, traveling with all those children and a mother sounds more like torture than a vacation. LOL. I got smart and would sent the wife and a good friend with all the children to the beach for two weeks a summer. They had a blast, and I got some peace and quiet. Thanks for sharing.

LOL, Thanks for the review. This vacation was a lot more like torture. Husbands are lucky if they opt out. Mine would have liked that choice.

Our trip out West turns into a nightmare.

Beth, even been long, I must say, I found your story well told and kept my interest. You said there were three children under eight.
I will say, they were at the age, it would be very difficult
to keep them entertained.

Thanks Gert, Just taking the three of them into a restaurant at that age, entertained everyone there except us. LOL The story may have been long but if I'd told all the things that went wrong on that trip it would have been a book.

I agree with you, camping is not for everyboy, I personally prefered a hotel is safe and clean:) Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

Thanks Isa, my lust for adventure has been satisfied. Now just camping in a hotel is a chore. I hate living from a suitcase.

Gripping episode--I well recall about the narrow escape from the would-be killers from Remembering Yesterday. You vividly evoke this trip from hell! The misery of no-frills travel with kids is made manifest.

LOL. No doubt, she had. You guys were brave, Grapes of Wrath from Mississippi. You guys lived an exciting life. I can see Evan after all this. Poor guy and poor momma.

We owned a caravan for quite a few years with the girls, we're not really campers either, but the caravan had four bunk beds, and a double converted from the table, it was pretty neat, and we always enjoyed, going away school holidays and long weekends, it does sound like the travel arrangements wouldn't be legal now. Beautifully written Beth, I think you wrote about those shifty gentlemen before, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, Yes I did write about it later in "Remembering Yesterday." The story is basically the same, just told at different periods in my life.

OH, my goodness, Beth, I'd give up camping too after that harrowing experience! I couldn't imagine being locked inside the back of that truck. I'm glad you all made it home safe to tell the story. Well done.

Thank you Judy. We camped again eventually, but never under those circumstances. The next time we were sure we were in a safe site and no one would lock us in anywhere. LOL

That was a wonderful trip because all the people in the family were extremely enjoyed the trip and same time they suffered in the night way. Because the issue for space to sleep in the crowd vehicle. But importantly they survived their lives when thieves try to poke the vehicle. Mom did a amazing role when thieves came there with that unusual attitude towards them. I would say this is a wonderful story or can considered as hollywood movie story also. A big thumps up for the person who write this amazing story. Thank you so much.

Oh my goodness, girl! it's a wonder you and your family ever took another vacation in your entire life. What a deal that was! As for crossing Texas, forget it. Carissa and I crossed the state with a two week old baby, both knowing it had to be a straight drive through because my daughter was dying. That was more than enough for either of us!~!

Hugs, Carol

Thank you Carol. It didn't cure my desire to travel but it make my husband more reluctant to go.
