This reads very well Beth. I liked the easy flow of the words, and the sentiments are pleasant too. This is an engaging poem without any obvious faults.

This is a great tribute to our great ancestors. I like the picture of the chief you depict. He hates to be seen as an entertainment. My fav phrase "So silently the fang of death was sent."

This poem is lovely, but sadly the truth speaks. This has vision of the past atrocities, and hope for the young ones who still have a future. Well done.

Powerful. The meter and rhyme are so perfect, it flows like music. The story is heartbreaking, as many times as I hear it. Marvelous job. Best of luck in the competition. You should have a very strong entry. Ray.

Beth, this is beautiful. I feel so sorry for the Indian Nations and I'm so ashamed of the past, both with the Indian and with the African-Americans. Wish it could have been different. Thank you for this, pat

Thank you, Pat, for the review and the comments. The more I learn about the Indians the worse I feel about the way they were treated.

Your rhyming quatrains do a most compelling job of telling the tragic tale of what European explorers and settlers did to Native Americans in usurping their land by focusing on a single elderly chief, whose life has been reduced to posing for tourist photos. This is an excellent story poem, Beth. Brooke

This is a first-rate piece
of verse, Beth - has a smooth
flow to the words and excellent
rhythm and rhyme - telling of
a life of an indian chief -- a
great entry for the contest.

Good luck, my friend.
Margaret.

This is a very good story in a poem. The Indians were pushed out of their land and made to live on reservations. It is one of this nations great sins.
