No surprise that this was a first prize winner. The plot was good and the writing was clear and precise. Well executed step-by-step capture. The proof was well collected and the ending very satisfying.

Sorry I am so late getting back to you, but I am not feeling up to par (stress, overdoing and just getting old) LOL I appreciate your review and thoughts. Smiles, Carol

Excellent story! You had me from beginning to end. I love the use of the broach as a microphone. Also, that you didn't reveal that Megan was part of the setup to capture Gator until the end. Great character development and good dialogue.

"You'll rot in hell." I (spit) in his face. (spat) The story was told in past tense but this sentence is in present tense.

Great story and a well deserved win. Thank you for sharing and congratulations.

What an excellent job of writing a horror/mystery story. You did an exceptional job of creating the character of Gator. He was pure evil, and everything about him gives the reader reason to hate him. Awesome job!

Well done, Carol! Another horror story that I forced myself to read, but it kept my attention with great dialogue and imagery. I can see why it won the contest and all time best. Congratulations.

Good morning, Judy! Those aren't horror stories...just thrillers to get your blood percolating a little. LOL Glad you enjoyed my blast from the past writing...Smiles, Carol

You are so kind to me Patty... I am thrilled that you enjoyed this "blast from my past." I do think when I am writing I become part of the story and that's how my emotions blend into my characters. Thank you...Carol

You sure seem to know how to write about evil characters and deeds. I was confused by the note. She was at the grave reading it, yet you later say it was put on her windshield. We should probably know that in the beginning. The butterfly broach was a nice touch.

Are you trying to tell me I have a bit of "darkness" running through my veins? Considering my life, you probably are right! Glad you enjoyed the story. Smiles, Carol

Hope all is well with you!

You certainly know how to weave a story. And just like in all those police dramas, you don't show us the agreement with the police behind the scenes that set up the trap. I like the hint by playing with the butterfly pin but wouldn't that make a lot of noise?
Congratulations again!

Good morning Helen, I suppose if she continued to touch the pin, it would distract the listener, but she only touched it when she went into the place. My "forever researcher" checking out all the facts. LOL Thanks for the review. Smiles, Carol

Yowzers. You could have a whole book of "Letter Contest Winners" I think!
I am in awe of your ability to develop an idea, build upon it seemingly effortlessly, make the reader care about the character(s) in such a short time...
AND, once again, interweave the personal with the legal aspects!
If someone paid me a million dollars I could not write this! (I will send them YOUR way though, for a 2% cut!)---
You write "Gator" characters I love to hate!
--Congrats on showcasing another 1st place win! You're proof positive consistently good writing can be consistently recognized!--Karenina

You are awesome, sweet karenina... If you send someone my way with a million dollars (even member cents) lol I will be more than happy to split it evenly with you. Are you noticing that people are gone from the site...summer I guess? I had no reviews and only two people wanting me to read their stories. Strange? Desert Gultch...

thank you again for reading the story yesterday and your comments.
    Smiles, Carol

Maybe their computers are melting in this obscene heat! 117 degrees in the Pacific Northwest yesterday! 118 degrees in Canada! A mere 99 here--with a heat index of 105... also, it being the week before the 4th, lots of folks go on vacation... NO worries! They'll be back!--Karenina

Another great story Carol, and you minimised the violence, was there ever a dead body buried? Or was that a literary set up. But as usual you must have rattled these marvellous plots out, on after another. Great job, good plot and characters, both antagonists and protagonists, well done, blessings Roy

Those years were the beginning of some real tough ones for me and I guess late at night my mind went to some dark places. Or maybe there's some evil gangster blood lurking in my veins and it just pops up in my stories. LOL Thanks for stopping by. I always love to hear from you. Tkae care...Smiles, Carol
