Funny. I love Jack Sparrow's character and so does my son. I could see pretending to be pirates and fighting with snowballs. Great job.

Haha...I loved this, Carol. Your twist and using snowballs as cannonballs is brilliant. Very enjoyable flash. Best of luck in the contest.

    Indy,

Yes, thought as long as the snow was finally melting, I'd toss a few about...Nice to hear from you. Hope all is well. Smiles, Carol

Carol,

I think that you did a fantastic job
on your contest entry! You made great
use of the word 'cannonballs' in this
line:

"Icy cold cannonballs ripped through the air amidst squeals of delight.

I also enjoyed your surprise ending.

Linda

Loved your artwork. I'd heard it snowed in Florida this year. What a cheat!
Fun little flash, girl. A snowball fight in the land of sun and sand. Go figure.
Good luck in the contest.

Ha - I like this, Carol..
you're a clever one.

We went to one of the
canary islands on holiday
once and they had torrential
rain which they hadn't had
the likes of for 70 years!!
I was kept busy helping the
older one (older than us) and
trying to keep warm, as we
only had summer clothes and
the hotel wasn't actually
built for such weather.
We were brown with rush rather
than sun, by the time we arrived
home.

Love it, my friend.

Margaret.

Another fun piece cleverly written in just a few short words. I, personally, hate Florida (I lived there for awhile). However, love Johhny Depp and the Pirates and appreciated how you made this a short metaphor--with correct word count and use of theme. Best of luck in the contest. Sue

Carol, this is a lovely, fun-filled write. The images on my mind's eye are strong and clear and the emoptions come across clearly, too. Pat.

    Pat,

Yes, I could so see this taking place...Thrilled with snow in FLorida (not the crop growers though). Smiles, Carol

Snow shouldn't last too long that far south, though, should it? Pat.

    Pat,

Lasted long enough to make cannonballs out of the tomatoes and oranges...about a day and a half I think. Take care....

Don't we all wish to be in the Florida sunshine...Can't believe they got snow there this year...that is until I try to buy tomatoes...Hope all is well! Smiles, Carol
reply by Realist101 on 14-Mar-2010
I know, I love tomatoes, and oranges, and we just don't buy them often anymore. And the deer ate our tomato plants last year!! So, it is a mess. Did you know they mess with the weather by "seeding" it? I always wondered at the huge contrails in the sky, it is weather control attempts...I think this is a huge mistake...but, who am I to say??? I hope you are ok Carol, I think of you often...Hugs. Susan

What a clever animation to dress your tiny story. I enjoyed the contrast between the pirates, fantasy movie and the bikini-clad billboard. Best wishes in the contest.

Carol,
Adorable micro-fiction you've penned. Their is a beginning, middle and end. "Pirates of the Caribbean' I've never seen all the way through, I'm more of a 'Titanic' gal. Great imagery I could seen Tommy and his dad playing pirates outside the theater where snow covered the ground. Boys will be boys and they have a snowball fight. Of course you had to add a bikini clad girl on a billboard nearby. Loved the twist ending because they were in Florida. Excellent descriptive writing and natural dialogue. A wonderful entry in the micro-fiction contest. Cute cartoon pirate you've used. Shiver me timbers your micro-fiction was entertaining!
Melissa.
