Man, you have to have a ticket? No wonder I don't ever get there either. I loved this, all the things I want to do, but never accomplish. Great job.

Well, yes and you might have gotten sea sick,
the camel is a dirty beast and have you seen what
happens on Everest? lol. I guess we've all wished we
might have been more adventurous = so you have
written a lovely poem that touches us all in some way.
Beautiful rhyme and flow.

How many opportunities for adventure have I passed up? More than I want to admit to. Wonderful job on this. I especially love the artwork, it has an old fashioned style that is appealing.

Hugs,
Diane

Thank you, Diane - I think most of us have passed up some opportunities, the ones that got away- now, some people have passed up more than others, but I think we all understand regrets :-) Brooke

When I was sick for two weeks and spent half of March mostly in bed, my plans did not work out and I was back to zero. I did write a poem about it but I did not post it as it was so plain. I did not, could not, write it with metaphors like you do. I think it needs time, a lot of imagination, a very wide horizon, surveys, etc to be a poet, right? Or maybe I'd better go back to "zero" and write prose only (kidding, I won't back off so easily...:)) Back to your poem, I like the images you paint here, about the whales, dolphins, sea, mountains. They bring you almost every place imaginable.

I think we all grow as writers the more we write, Belinda - and most of us are our own worst critics. There are poets I was raised on - I would curl up in a fetal position on my bed and never write again if I thought to myself, this poem is not as good as Keats, this one is not as good as Dickinson, and this one surely doesn't come close to Shakespeare. We each have our own voice and something to say. Thank you, dear friend :-) Brooke

What a lovely insightful poem about the things you wished you'd done. Well written and explained with fantastic rhyme and meter. Not a scrap of critism here. You're good. Keep them coming....

Good luck with your Quatrain Poetry contest entry; or is it quarter main on the high seas? Super artwork and background colour to match. Yo, Ho, Ho and a bottle of rum. Ships of the desert as well; 'To dream the impossible dream' came to mind. I think this is one of your best poems and should win the contest - loved it!

Hullo Brooke ...

I specially like the picture at the top of your well-written poem with its somewhat surprise ending.
There is nothing to suggest changing and, as this is a Contest entry, I wish you well.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

A nice poem on unfulfilled dreams. Well written, flows and rhymes well and was a good read. Somewhat lacking in your usual eloquence and panache', nevertheless, flawlessly composed quatrains. Thank you for this posting and many blessings.

Hi Brooke,

a very interesting set of quatrains lamenting missed opportunities - and we all have plenty of those to lament. Nicely done and told.

Very good contest entry. Well rhymed with good imagery.
From my count, I can see that all the contest requirements are met and you always make that look so easily done.
