I guess sleeping with stuffed animals has made the rounds in every childs life. I have two grown girls who still sleep with their pooples, the ones they've had since they were three and two. No accounting for taste. Great job.

This is a great story, Carol. I like how you weaved in the "cuddly monsters". Is this for suneagle's contest? If so, somehow it is not identifying it as a contest entry.

    Jnetgame,

My time is so limited of late to enjoy what I love - writing, but I greatly appreciate knowing that even my short little bits of whimsy are appreciated. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Hi Carol,

What an adorable story this is. Thank heavens the dad gave this little boy Fred...what can make a child feel more safe than a kind word and a stuffed animal? Loved this...blessings, chey

When I was young, monsters ruled my world, day and night. Fear in the young is natural. Adults ridiculing it is bad. Today, I live with the biggest monster of all: REALITY.
Very well written.

All little boys need a soft cuddly protector. I know because I raised boys and each one has their own protector. Your micro-fiction was fun to read. Good luck with the contest.

Carol,
you micro-fiction about s boy afraid of monsters is very well written. Cool art work you used. Too bad you didn't enter the contest. Excellent narrative and great dialogue. I could see the boy crying at his mother hovering over his bed. I loved your description of Fred:

Seconds later, his daddy followed. He carried a scruffy, one-eyed creature in his hands.

Delightful read, my friend. . . Melissa.

Cute story. How sweet of the little boy to say he trusted who his dad trusted. It says a lot about their father/son relationship.

Good post. Thanks. I enjoyed the read.

Regards, anabelle

You have done a wonderful job of capturing the essence of childhood. I can remember being afraid of the dark and I can remember it with my daughter. You adressed it in a wonderfully intelligent manor. With just a very short story you have uncovered a universal theme. good work

Hello Carol a one eyed stuffed toy named Fred, how precious and show so much love .
Love this part-

Satisfied, Tommy snuggled closer to Fred and whispered, "Any friend of dad's is a friend of mine."
