Hi Carol, another wonderfully worded, minimum words, maximu effect, micro fiction, or flash fiction. Yes, if women pick up the gauntlet ... anything can happen. I enjoyed this short story, told in your inimitable style.

I always wonder when the battles are over, if the people who lost so much think that it was worth it in the end for the ones in power. great job.

Violence again here. In such brief space, you've skillfully depicted ravages of war. I think you've dealt especially well regarding how women suffer in armed conflicts. I interpret the torn dresses and blood-stained garments as savage rapes that often accompany wars.

In the other side of the conflict are the praises to the conquerors from the Princess. This is a political tact that also accompanies armed conflicts. l
Just the same, the tragedies of war remain.

This is gread flash fiction. It is good to know you are finding time to write again. A virus fried my computer yesterday so I don't know when I'll get another chance to review or write. Hope your lucks improved. Aparently mine hasn't.
