A tragedy averted. The Lord does answer prayer. I'm upset about the bird, but so happy that it was not fatally injured. Reminds me of the gospel song, "His eye is on the sparrow / And I know He watches me."

A typo: should be "I almost begin to cry" in accordance with the present tense used throughout the story.

Inspirational write, dear Realist.

Susan,
your flash fiction story is very written and an enjoyable read. Your story paints a picture in the readers head. Excellent narrative and great descriptive writing. In a minimum amount of words for a maximum effect you established a setting, conflict, and a resolution to your story. We use to have birds hitting our sliding glass windows. Since my Mom put in French doors that practice has stopped. I'm gald the bird flew away. But when I had a cat and the bird hit the kitty got a nice bird lunch. Have a lovely 2011, my friend.
Melissa.

Hi again! I have realized that these are the males and they see their reflections, so try to "dive bomb" their rival. At least that is how it is in the spring...now in winter it may be the dark area of a window and they think it's a doorway to shelter? I put pans in front of it and they stay back now! Just hang pie tins, and let the breeze move them around...it works! ") thank you for this great review Melissa. It's awful too, when cats get involved...but it's natural. "/ Suse

Hi again! Oh me too, he is still around, I am sure...there are three males, one of which sits and sort of eyeballs the window. So, he is probably remembering his close call, I hope! Poor thing, I hung pie tins in front of that window...it has helped so far! OH and we overate too...twice! ") I am turkeyed out until next November! Susan

That window seems to be bringing you more sorrow than pleasure. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an easy read.

Hi Charlie! Well, I hung pie tins in front of it a few days ago...they swing in the wind and sort of scare the birds away from the feeders, but they will grow accustomed? And so far none of the others have flown into them again. It's awful. Thank you for another wonderful review! ") susan

Cute story. Having lived in the country during my youth, I could easily picture something like this happening. You did a great job in telling this story.

Cardinals are such beautiful birds. I am gld it flew away and is all right. You really need to put something in your windows so the birds know it's there.

Hi again! I did! I hung two pie tins up and they swing and keep them back! SO FAR! It sort of scares them at the feeders but I think they will stay to eat and not fly over into the window anymore? I hope...I am going to do this for the front window too, they are both big windows...but the feeders are in the back, so that is where they are the most. Thank you my friend! Great to see you like this! xoxo! Susan

I guess needed some time to get his head straight or then again, maybe it was a miracle and result of the prayer. Thanks for sharing this lovely little Christmas story. I haven't had one crash into my windows in a while.

Hi Beth! Who knows...I try to give credit? lol...and I have hung pie tins up that swing in the breeze so , I hope it doesn't happen anymore. Poor things...I love them so. In the spring the males see their reflection and try to "fight" the rival. So, just hang piepans up! ") Great to hear from you and am so sorry for this late reply!! xoxo, Susan

I guess the little feller flew into a window. God does answer prayers even those for the wildlife. A great little story. Well done, Buck

Oh this is short but beautiful some times you don't need to write much to get a message across. I love don't die to day on Christmas for it's the day Jesus was born. Very emotional piece of word and He does answer prayers!!!
