Hi Bob!! Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked this silly tale, but it's almost a true story, only put me in place of the older fella and a mare in place of the mule! ") I am real happy to hear from you!! ") Susan

What a great story with two strong, likable characters going head to head, toe to toe. LOL This is worth at least a six, which I don't have to give, and a hundred laughs, which I have been giving out since the beginning of the story - good luck in the contest, Susan, with a most clever and entertaining story :-) Brooke

oh Brooke! What a great review! I am just so happy this gave you a good laugh! I have this character as an older man, maybe sixty something, but I have personally done this very thing. We had a horse, tho, it was a mare, not a mule. If you see any "extra" wording, or words that I can cut, please let me know? I really appreciate your kind enthusiasm for this...a fun one to write! I like old Merle! ") Thank you again, the thought for a six is worth a million bucks Brooke! ") hug again! Susan

Hi Susan - what a great story. Made me smile all the way through. Stubborn meets stubborn - who will win? This is very well written, drawing the reader through each moment with plenty of dialog (monologue?), visuals, and descriptions of the setting. Wish I had a 6 left to give you. Good luck in the contest.

This is a great little story,
with great imagery, so much so,
I could saw the scene - the old
chap and the mule - a most impressive
write, deserving of a six, which I
don't have.
Most enjoyable, Susan.
Margaret.

I always loved to read your stories about horses. This story about Merle is also interesting, and it made good reading. It changed its mind because it had the horse sense, right?
Since I liked the story I didn't look for spags.
However, I failed to get the connection with the smart phones.
A great job.

There you are Ramarao! So good to hear from you! I was trying to be funny about the phones. He starts out thinking regular cell phone, then thinks maybe he needs an even fancier one. ? I don't know. The smart phones have more to them...if you think that is silly, I can change it or remove it. But thank you again, I love your input Ramarao! Hope you are keeping warm if you have winter weather.
