Your poem does cast a shining light on old mores that sadly no longer exist. I like your title, I can relate to holding things together with spit and gum. I'll never forget when the dermatologist told me to use superglue for the fissures that would result on my fingers as a result of too frequent hand washing and gloving as an ICU nurse. Never thought I would see the day when I would be held together by superglue. LOL!
