Jimi, this is a delightful little true tale about the conversation you had with your youngest when he was four. Children and their crazy logic are good sources for stories and poems, and this is a fine story about a boy trying to wheedle his way out of preschool. I enjoy your humor,
"Son, don't ever try to understand girls. You'll be happier." Well I'm not happy right now.
I can imagine this child as I have once been one myself.

We're not quite there yet, looking after our granddaughter who will be 3 years old on December 16th. But I'm sure little Princess Lissie will be a handful. Next month, our daughter, Laura, has enrolled her in a play school for 2 hours in the mornings, 3 days per week. It will be a help for my wife who is on the verge of going completely mad!
I love the way your son said, "It's time to make her day just daisy."

We're not quite there yet, looking after our granddaughter who will be 3 years old on December 16th. But I'm sure little Princess Lissie will be a handful. You've chosen a great vignette to illustrate a child's "theory of mind" . I can still remember doing that as a child, and I certainly remember my own children faking illnesses. You capture the child's POV and wishful thinking beautifully as the scenario unfolds.
I'm dropping my middle child off for her first year at college tomorrow - my wife and I were just recalling all of those wonderful idiosyncratic sayings she had, so the "just daisy" thing really struck home.

Another fun story Jimi loved it. Kids can be real little shits at times I had five and I know all about someone not wanting to go to school. Thankfully they only one at a time tried it on. Anyway great story. Sincerely Anne

I think the author captures hypothetically what goes on in the mind of a child. As adults we are always having internal dialogues with ourselves. It is no different from when we were children.
