Lovely as always my friend, I want to ask you a question, did you learned the poetic structure and kinds here in fanstory or you've studied the poetic literature out there because your explanation is so good and comprehensive.

    Thank you Maguy. I learned it here on FanStory., never been formally trained.

Ahhh, Lynyrd Skynyrd. I feel like holding my lighter up for an encore. They 're-united with who is left and really, your poem is what they should be playing.

Excellent poetry expressing an indomitable spirit in beautiful figurative language. To many retirement is the end of life worth living. I salute you for trying the new;
thoughts,images,poetic forms, wonders of nature etc; Being retired I will try to emulate your example as expressed here.

Like it? I absolutely LOVED it! Such an inspirational message, one that anyone, not just retirees, can relate to quite easily.

We all chose to reach higher, climb faster, go harder than we ever had before, at times. What separates the successful from the one's that aren't successful is that they never stop trying, pushing, scratching and clawing to be the best that they can be.

I can see why you are successful. Messages like the one you've written here make it very apparent...

Dean~

Bravo! You've done a great job following a complicated format, while also conveying a lot of feeling & everything flows well, too! I really love your message & I think it can be inspiring to many retirees. I read a poem earlier by someone who sounded so bored & depressed in her retirement, I wish she could see her life as you've shown in your poem! You are to be admired for such an awesome poem!

Great job on the Roundabout. I've often wondered the same. My husband is getting ready to retire and wants nothing more than to lie in a hammock on a beach somewhere drinking boat drinks. I wonder how long that will last.

My mother retired many years ago, but still works her butt off fundraising for our local college, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity. She's got her fingers in just about every pot.

I think retirement is what you make it. So go for it! Do whatever you can, whenever you can.
