Nice well written poem; truthful in its thrust, the mark of an excellent poem not of opinions but of facts. Yes, the aging process does allow us to reexamine, reconstruct, & to reconstitute our lives at least in attitude & renewal of mind. Touch©!

it flowed beautifully. it was captivating and I wouldn't change anything about this poem. I loved the message it delivered reminding us that in life we have a choice in all that we do. it touched me deeply and I would really love to hear more poems from this writer

I love to see your positive spirit coming through. I think your perception is very much correct. We maybe be imprisoned by our physical bodies; the one we inherited and failed to adapt to the environment and milieu in which we were born; but, our spirits can always be free. yeah excellent..is quartrain rhyming AABB? coz I really don't understand all these archaic rules of poetry?
Just one thing Debbie? "happenstance?"..I have never heard of this word before? Is this a bit of poetic licence as they say? lol
I can begin by acceptance
Of what is my existence
And while doing so, change my attitude
Holding strong to feelings of gratitude
you could change to the above line just a thought, plus that line flows better I feel.

quatrains are 4 syllable stanzas with a rhyme scheme. The scheme is up to the poet. Happenstance is a real word, just not used much. I appreciate your review and suggestion. I will take a look at that~Debbie
