Correct syllable count, and good imagery. Excellent use of enjambment to make your poem flow. Good luck in the contest.

I have seen on TV where they show the mirage in the desert, miles of sand...so hot you could see the heat on the ground...to hot for me...very well written...

This is a very nice 5-7-5 describing the image succinctly and then drawing a conclusion in the final line. So many haiku fail to do this so it's always good to read one that does. Well done.
